dbass
Hi guys Just been offered the bass chair for a local production of Hairspray... Now - this is literally just happened so not sure what the deal is with the score and has anyone played it before on here? I can read to a fairly decent level but not sure I can have one stab at it and get it right on the night so to speak. I can read walking jazz quickly but not sure how I would cope with the structure of a musical... Any help would be wonderful as this could be my first paying reading gig! JakeBrownBass
I did a show that was a mixture of songs from musicals. There were a couple of Hairspray numbers & they were tough reads in places. If you can get the pad before the band call your laughing!

If I can get it then I have a month and half to go over it which should be plenty of time Argh, quite nervous!

Just keep practicing your sight reading in all keys before the show & you'll be fine!
lowdown
Yep don't get nervous, but do get familiar with the show. [If you are only playing for a short run] A couple of tricky things, but a good play for the Bass.
