Bass Rig Help

Hello all, please help me sort out a rig, my head is spinning.

I played bass when young but shifted to guitar after a few years. Nothing serious just home recording and jamming.

I have a chance to join a project I'm really keen to get into. I have been asked to go on bass by a guitarist I have absolute respect for. I have gone for a vintage rickenbacker 4001 which is about to be set up and sorted out, this was an easy choice as the covesr we will do were done with a ricky bass.

Amp choice is killing me. Due to health problems the arrival of lightweight bass gear is a god send for me but when ever I see a demo it is like everyone has had a Mark King brain wash.

We will mainly be sorting out a set of Killing Joke songs, initially from the early years and then adding later songs.

I would like one head that can get me fat indie-rock bass tones but also handle the more gritty low B string stuff

I had thought of getting TC gear as I always liked them, then Gallien Krueger, then etc etc, I aint got a clue. I can't make mistakes here.

Any help advice greatly appreciated.

I`ve no experience of low B string, but as you mentioned TC gear, I can recommend the TC Classic 450. Great amp, very versatile, good on-board compressor, and tube emulation.

I`d also recommend the amp I currently use (as will most likely everyone) the Ampeg PF 500, but this is because I play rock and punk, and like that fat sound too. I`m more than happy with it, and it really does produce that classic Ampeg sound.

The Orange Terror may also be worth a look/listen, not the most versatile of amps on the eq, but loads of power, and thick fat valvey-tone is its game.
