Adding valve colour to my amp

Hi guys
Ok so I use a Mesa boogie M6 carbine and boogie 2x12, my bass is a stingray 5.
I love this set up, loads of power and tone. I am looking to add a bit of valve grit to it, not mad distortion my bass xxl does that in spades.

Anyone got any ideas for pedal recommendations, I've been thinking of either the Sansamp or mxr m80. I just don't want to spend a few hundred quid on experimenting.

Perhaps I need to change my amp?

Any ideas/ experiences would be welcome

Cheers

If you want to find out about the Sansamp, get hold of a Behringer BD121. They are very similar, but the BD121 is £25 in GAK. Whereas the Sansamp is about £180.

It`s a good little box, build quality is better than £25 would suggest. It`s also a fairly good DI, and is good for recording too. And the bonus is, even if you`re not too keen, it`s always worth having a DI pedal in your gig-bag for those unforseen moments.

I had both the Sansamp and the Behringer, but for the difference between them, I sold the Sansamp. Soundwise it was, in my opinion, some 10% better than the Behringer, tho both are good at adding some grit. In fact, to my ears, the Behringer was better at obtaining the SVT sound, as the Sansamp has much more pronounced lows, and a definate mid-scoop, which the Behringer doesn`t have. Build quality much better - very sturdy indeed - tho the Behringer isn`t fragile by any means.
+1 for the berhinger. Cant go wrong at that price point, even if you dont like it.

I settled on the VT bass, and it interacts really rell with the XXL for my tastes. I have the VT on all the time, then use the XXl for all out filth.
The vt sounds cool, I already have the xxl.
