help please

hi all,could anyone help?basicly whilst playing im getting intermittant sound from the bass,ive checked the amp lead,so its not that and is the bass,has anyone had a similar probs in the past and can help,the bass is a washburn,xb400 bantom.

Yup! almost a certainty. They do sometimes just "go" after working for years.

Worth a possible quick-fix if you can see the part of the jack that touches the tip of the jack plug when it's plugged in & bend it over a bit harder towards the middle. If it looks like one of these .....

If that don't work, or the socket looks more like a long tube then you're looking at a new socket, which is easy if you can handle a soldering iron or a dead simple fix for any half-decent guitar shop.

As the jack socket on the XB400 is on the bottom edge of the body (as opposed to being mounted on a scratchplate), the chances are it's going to be one of the long barrel sockets.
They're easy to replace but it does involve a little bit of soldering - three wires in your case I think.

.......and! .... you have to get the right wires in the right places otherwise your battery will quickly run flat.


Hot to tip

Ground to shaft

Battery negative to ring.
