Fender Bass VI

Spotted a Jap 90's Fender bass VI on the Gallery website.

I've asked them to ring me tomorrow if it's still there, been after one for years - Placebo 'Pure Morning' did it for me, and my brother and I are huge Jaguar/Jazzmaster/Mustang/Jagstang freaks.

They're asking a grand, seems around what these Jap reissues are going for on eBay etc.

It's been on their page for a week, so I doubt it's still about.

Would be interested if anybody local to the Gallery has seen it?

Thanks for any info/opinions.

The tone Brian Molko got out of those things was nothing short of brilliant. I'd really like one.

FWIW, the Custom Shop reproductions do not sound nearly as good as the original 1960's Bass VI that most of the pros play. If you search the forums you'll find that quite a few buyers were not entirely satisfied with them. I would really think hard and long about spending all that money on one. They are grossly overpriced for what they are. A more suitable - and affordable - option is the Schecter Hellcat VI and if you can find one, a Burns Barracuda. But, if you have that kind of money to spend I'd seriously consider getting one made from http://www.huort-ch.com/lang_eng/en_super6.htm.

There are plenty of owners on offsetguitars.com.
I've been wanting one for a while and a grand for a jap one seems about the going rate these days. I've been umming and ahhing over one of these for the last 6 months as a cheaper alternative
