1.
Actually it's not the Hellcat VI, but the Ultra VI that I've played. I didn't think that Schecter would make more than one VI model!
Actually, Schecter now makes three VIs... - Hellcat VI - Ultra VI - Robert Smith UltraCure VI You should definitely check out the new 2012 Schecter Hellcat VI (Burst or Black.) MAKE SURE IT IS THE 2012 VERSION AS IT IS VERY MUCH IMPROVED OVER THE OLDER VERSION.) Very much like a Fender Bass VI. Has three genuine single coil Seymour Duncan SJAG-1 pups and treble bleed caps (as does the RS UltraCure VI BTW.). Goes for around US$600. The RS model goes for around US$900 and is all mahogany. No tremelo. But, I personally prefer the superior tuning and intonation of hard-tail/TOM. http://www.schecterg...ellcat-VI.aspx# Schecter did a really great job recreating a very affordable yet high quality Bass VI product. They also have seperate On?off switches for each pup. Another great part is you can use the very high quality yet inexpensive LaBella strings that are made especially for the Schecter VIs in rounds (stainless or nickel) or flats. They don't fit on the Eastwood BTW. http://elderly.com/s...rings&x=13&y=6.
 2.
Spotted a Jap 90's Fender bass VI on the Gallery website. http://www.thebassgallery.com/product_deta...7&type=Bass Guitar I've asked them to ring me tomorrow if it's still there, been after one for years - Placebo 'Pure Morning' did it for me, and my brother and I are huge Jaguar/Jazzmaster/Mustang/Jagstang freaks. They're asking a grand, seems around what these Jap reissues are going for on eBay etc. It's been on their page for a week, so I doubt it's still about. Would be interested if anybody local to the Gallery has seen it? Thanks for any info/opinions. Trav
FWIW, the Custom Shop reproductions do not sound nearly as good as the original 1960's Bass VI that most of the pros play. If you search the forums you'll find that quite a few buyers were not entirely satisfied with them. I would really think hard and long about spending all that money on one. They are grossly overpriced for what they are. A more suitable - and affordable - option is the Schecter Hellcat VI and if you can find one, a Burns Barracuda. But, if you have that kind of money to spend I'd seriously consider getting one made from http://www.huort-ch.com/lang_eng/en_super6.htm.
