How Much Difference does sensitisity make to volume?

Very true. Though theres a differance between an input being distorted - as in the gain stage of a nice valve amp, so you get nice 'musical' distortion rather than distortion occuring at the output, or even worse distortion as a result of a speaker reaching its mechanical limits http://basschat.co.uk/style_images/basscha...icons/icon5.gif

I have to say at this point I have totally failed to apply this theory to my rig - a Markbass LMK rated at 500 Watts RMS into 4 Ohms into ashdown minicabs which are notionally rated at about 800 Watts, and I really like the sound it gives when its sitting at gigging volume.

Imho ultimatly its all down to what works for the individual - subjectivly one mans 'boxy sounding crap' is another mans 'tight mid'.

My favourite story (which may or may not be true) from PA world is that Turbosound decided to use the 'turbo blue' paint colour on their cabinets because it sounded 'better' in blind listening tests...

Does that mean an SWR Redhead would go Faster? :)

Laugh you may, but I recall many extended discussions between ostensibly intelligent human beings on a forum who debated ad nauseum over which color shrink wrap tubing on wire connections sounded better. :)

ahh... Fuschia of course!
:)
so:
Blue cab
Red Amp
and Fuschia wiring
are the best colours for sound, it seems obvious now

I guess couple it with a few coloursound pedals .... sorry i've gotten silly now
