This is the new tutorial i've just posted up on my lessons website. Word of warning... Learn the major scale in the three different positions before you start to tackle the continuous scale exercise otherwise it will tie your brain in knots. Again, the concept is easy to understand but just a little hard to put into practice at first. Take your time and you will get it... and it will make a difference! Here it is... I talk a lot about the application of the altered scale (melodic minor up a semitone from the route) in my other tutorials on my lessons site. If fact every tutorial except the 'how to practice scales and arpeggio's' tutorials has it in. Maybe start with the II V I tutorials. Another good one is the 'soloing on static minor chords tutorial', plenty of altered scale action there too. The altered scale can be a bit of a pain to start with... not the actual fingering of the scale, but actually 'hearing it' when you play. If your having these sorts of issues let me know as i've got some great ways to get the ears to start excepting the altered scale as a valid option. Easy man, Scott.
