1.
Welcome! How did it die :)
Fell off the stand and snapped the headstock off.

  2.
I just looked up your bass, really nice looking 5 string! I'm more into traditional stuff, I just bought a new Fender American P Bass V. I love the sustain and sound from it.......................................... :)
I'd love a Fender P V. Its the only fender i like, but heyre impossible to get hold of, wher'd you get yours?

  3. Bin on this forum for a few days now. Thort id properly introduce myself.

Im Matt. I hail from Canterbury, Kent. Although im currently living in Cardiff.

Im a five stringer. Although my reliable old work horse of 6 years (My Cort B5) has recently died. Tragic. So im on the market for a new bass (its gunna be a corvette!)

Heroes and influences include: Victor Wooten, Julian Crampton, Stuart Zender, Taka Hirose, Chris Wolstenholme and Matt Freeman.

Big fan of acid jazz. (yeah, let the mocking and 'your pretentious' jokes begin)

Anywho, now ive found this site, i bloody love it i do!!

  4. Personally, i think aesthetics are important. I agree with an instrument (or skoda) the performance is top, but i cant ignore looks. I cant justify buying a £500+ (or however much) bass if its ugly as sin. Im not Stevie Wonder, so ive gotta look at my instrument everyday. Id rather not have one that repulses me. Besides look at John Entwistle, he got quite a bit more attention than any other bassist at the time because his basses looked f***ing cool!

  5.
It means that you can't do the whole thumb over the neck, heavy grip thing that a lot of
players do. You have to have your thumb in the centre of the neck when playing in the
upper register of a singlecut bass.
:) Surely if you practice good technique, you shouldn't need a single-cut to force your thumb down?

  6.
You may just as well say "Fender P bass or jazz bass why". You don't like 'em but who cares ? Many people do which is why companies like Warwick are building them.
Was just startin a conversation. I know the reasoning, im just challenging it. Just wanted to hear the honest and hilarious comments everyone has come up with, for or against.

I personally think Fenders are overrated too (now there's can of worms).

  7.
But then you do own an Ibanez.......pot calling the kettle black?!
    lol

I like the Thumb SC actually, and I'm a bit of a traditionalist with body shapes

    Si
Haha. Yeah, the ibanez is a cheap backup, so it stays hidden until needed. Then it gets puked on too.

Conan, i know what you mean about sperm whales!! :)

Another thing. These SC's must weigh at least an extra kilo.

  8.
I'd love to be in a financial position to be worried about whether Warwick have come out with a single cut Thumb or not
Im nowhere near that financial position either. They've just assaulted (and insulted) my eyes enough to start a thread. :)

  9. What is it with single cutaways recently? It started on boutique basses a few years ago and now the manufacturers are doing it too. For example, personally i think Warwicks are some of the best looking basses around. Then this year they've gone and made a single cut thumb bass.

    http://www.warwick.de/modules/produkte/pro...22953&cl=EN

    ITS HIDEOUS!!

I know there are tonal and ergonomic advantages, but i'd rather not be sick on my bass every time i see it.

Am i the only one here or does someone agree?

    Thoughts?
