  1. I found the tighter the string spacing better when I started on a 5er. It allows you to get used to stretching across a wider neck easier. Also forces you to have a more accurate fretting hand.

The biggest thing to overcome on 5ers is the overall feel. The strings feel a lot looser and you will feel cramped to start off.

As for which bass. I found the squires sounded woolly, crappy electronics. But if you used to Jazz basses, it will be less alien. The spector on the other hand is brilliant, superb build quality and good sound.

  2. An imminent move means my work horse has to go.

Shes a little battered in places and the amp output socket is a bit loose. but she works great.

Anyone whos tried one knows what a powerhouse this rig is.

Ill get some pics up tomorrow.

How does £150 to anyone who can pick her up sound?

    Love you all

  3. This is a good point, but personally I don't think a post minimum is beneficial.

I joined this forum to buy my dream bass and having acquired it, stuck around. Everyone has to start somewhere and I think the buy/sell section is a great because you can start with a focus. Admittedly using this place once to sell an item is abusing it a bit, but it's the perfect way of dodging evilBay and finding your target market. I love how active the market is on this forum, it gives me a chance to pretend I could afford some of these beautiful basses.

I know I don't post much, but I'm on here everyday reading what all these wonderful people have to say and occasionally feel a need to throw in my two cents (like now). I think a post minimum would deter new users, I know it would have deterred me. Plus, it'll will more work for our amazing moderators (suck up) to filter out all the spam posts.

So new users come and go, but at least people are coming and going and surely that's the sign of a healthy forum. I'd hate for this to become a clique instead of a community.

  4. You know the image. But what is the bass? Jazz neck, precision body, lots of switches?

As im wrting this im guessing its some custom job, but if anyone knows....

  5. Gotta Countryman 5 string to noodle on a few months back to go with my rocking chair. Need a piece of straw, if anyone has got one spare. Also struggling to find a new bridge for it in this backwards hick town of Cardiff. :(

  6. I'd say about 250, cos thats how many are on my play-along-bass playlist on my computer. 60 of those i play in my covers band, another 200ish of stuff i like plonking along to when i wanna stretch the fingers. I find its all about remembering you cue points rather than the full structure of the song, although the musicians your playing with have to know theirs too.

Chill man. Its a 4ohm, with the lg, its got enough to keep up in small gigs if the drummer is being sensible (rare i know). I mainly use it for acoustic stuff. As a comparison prob similar output to a 250w with a 12". As for delivery, If you wanna sort a courier ill box it up for you.
