1. Bump for price drop to 2250GBP for a fantastic and very lively sounding Alembic.
2. Nice clip! Tone and feel are both great.
3.
yes ive sold a few basses in the past to get an alembic...
seems I'm selling an Alembic to get a few basses bump
4. Hi all, I'm putting up my 1976 Alembic Series 1 for sale. If you have been looking for a way to get an Alembic Series 1 but can't afford to shell out the dough for a new one, or even a pristine used one, this is your chance. The good stuff: 76 Alembic Series 1 Long Scale (34 inch) 4 string Body: Koa body with Maple Top and Perdoba Rosa back Neck: Maple neck with Purpleheart stringers Fingerboard: Ebony Headstock: Zebrawood front and back laminates Electronics: Series 1, Includes power supply. A prior owner modified it so that you can run a mono cable from the 1/4 inch jack and run on battery and Stereo from the 5 pin. This is good if you ever forget the power supply for a gig. G&G case. The bad stuff: Headstock: neck joint was cracked and repaired prior to 2002. The previous owner has said it was stable all of this time. Pickups: Someone tried to remove the center humcanceller and left pry marks on the pickup. Inlays: The inlay at the 12th fret has a <1cm chip. Bumps and bruises: The instrument is over 30 years old and has some bumps and bruises to the finish on the body, and a few dings on the back of the neck, and the brass is tarnished. I'm in the process of restoring the brass and will post some new pics when that is done. Now that I made it sound terrible, you can look at the pictures and see that it is still a very beautiful Alembic. (The previous owner had a professional photographer photograph it...oooh pretty. ) As it stands now, I have an Alembic that sounds great and I can take out to gigs without worrying about every fingerprint. Selling because I had to replace our boiler last month and it put us in a bit of a jam. I was planning on restoring the bass, but if I did that I would have to sell it for closer to 4k..thought someone might be interested in getting it first. Lastly, the bass is in the US. I am happy to work out arrangements to make it a secure transaction. More/bigger pics are available. Due to increased flight prices and a home repair bill, I can't make it to the UK until fall and am looking for a straight sale now. Best, Ben

8. Cool doubleneck. Welcome to BC.
9. Haven't been able to find Cracker, but checked out Minder and Rising Damp. Good stuff. Thank you. Also been watching the first season of Hustle.
10. Thanks all for the recommendations. I haven't heard of any of them, but I'll check them out. Been to the UK once to visit some friends who went to LIPA..swung up to Scotland to visit the Pass of Killiecrankie and then down to London for a couple of days before heading home. Loved it, but didn't get to spend nearly enough time there. When I worked in the orchestra on cruise ship in the late 90s, my friend was from the Welsh border just south of Liverpool. It took months for most people to be able to understand him. He soon realized he could get away with saying just about anything to just about anyone...funny guy. Anyway, by comparison, the Scottish accent doesn't seem that bad.
11.
You've got brilliant taste in TV. I watched so much Jeeves and Wooster not so long back I was going around saying things like "what's a chap supposed to do?" and lots of "bally people".
Thanks. Good stuff! We've been running around here saying "What ho" and "Rah di rah di rah di rah, sir?" and singing 47 Ginger headed sailors. We just finished the last Lovejoy disc (wasn't the same without Eric) and are a bit stumped for what to watch next.
12. Thanks all. The missus and I are big 80s/90s Brit TV fans (Lovejoy, Wooster and Jeeves, Poirot, Campion); if anyone has recommendations for others we'd be happy to Netflix them. Yeah, I'm just looking for an excuse to hop on a plane to England for a bass trade... And to completely derail my own introduction thread: if someone says he is from Shetland, he means the island and not some area of London, right? Seems like people on this board would probably know
13. Hi all, Been browsing for a while, thought I'd join in the fun. Very envious of all you Status and Wal players. They are very hard to come by on this side of the pond. Best, Ben
