Sale only now please as I've got my eye on something - unless you've got a 2012 American jazz in sunburst with a maple neck with cash adjustment my way - nah, didn't think so.

I've donated - it was thanks to the BC community that I've picked up a Zoom B9 for an absolute steal.

Ha Ha - it was thanks to the BC community that i'm always flippin' skint! There was a time not so long ago that my one bass that i'd owned for years was enough. I didn't even think of changing it. Since coming on here i've bought and sold more than is healthy. And the dreaded GAS is still not kept at bay. Forget changing the for sale section in the forum to the new classifieds. Get rid of any opportunity to buy, sell or trade and i'll be back in the black and my marriage may last a bit longer

Keep up the good work. I'll throw a few quid into the coffers when i've paid off my debts.

  3. Great thread! It's good to feel the positive vibe coming through. There is so much moaning around these days that this makes a refreshing change.

My current band have had some issues in the past, so much so that I was going to walk a few short months ago. We have however worked through the issues and have found the direction that we all want to persue. Happy, oh yes! The band has become closer through sorting out our differences, compromises have been found and it is a real pleasure to be part of something that now works well. The old team building model (forming, storming, norming, performing) is very relevant. It has taken us a couple of years but, we are now performing well together.

Anyone having issues, stick with it, remain positive and don't let things fester. Communicate!

I have a shuttlemax 6. Seriously impressive amps, there's so many tone shaping options (probably more than I'll ever need!)

The only fault (and it's one that really annoys me) is that the feet on mine are plastic, which on a lightweight amp means it slides all over the place when playing at volume. I think the reason it annoys me so much is that it would have been very easily fixed with rubber feet.

Rant over, brilliant amps, light as a feather, effing loud and sound great.

I had the same problem - cured with some anti-slip matting cut down to size and rolled over the top of the cab. The amp just sits on top. Got mine from B&M Bargains for about 79p. I've gone slightly oversize so that my tuner also sits on the mat (plugged in to the back of the amp). Simples :)

    Nothing whatsoever.

Go in clean and eq on amp. Just some new zingy DR strings and whack up the gain on the amp.

This. I use quality basses, a quality amp and quality cabs. DI from the amp to the PA, Tuner fed from the amp. I've played with effects over the years and some can sound great in isolation but when I bring them into a live situation I miss the natural tone and punch I get when just keeping it simple. Works for me.

  6. I changed the 'aged' white pickguard on my sunburst American deluxe jazz for a tort one a while ago. Looked great. A few weeks ago I started gassing for another bass (maybe a passive jazz) then last weekend I put the original pickguard back on for a change. Hey-presto, gas gone (well subsided as it never really leaves you). Feels like i'm playing a different bass. I'll probably change it back again in a few months and get that new bass feeling once again. Just thought i'd share that with you all.

  7. I have the USA Deluxe which has the pan between the 2 pups and a 3 band active pre-amp. I run both pups full on (pan in the middle) and the the eq on the bass flat. On the amp (GB Shuttle 9.0 with 2 x Berg HD210's) I have both the gain and gain volume set at 1 o'clock, the bass and treble flat and boost the low mids (mid freq sweep to 9 o'clock and the mid to 2 o'clock). Volume to suit. This gives me a fantastic tone and it cuts through a treat. Never really need to change from these settings through a gig as that sound suits everything we do. Very happy!

  8. A couple of nice looking Stingrays from the same seller......

  9. As you say - personal preference, but once you've decided i'd go to the basses for sale section on this very forum. Some superb instruments at realistic prices from knowledgable and dedicated people who share the common interest. Personally i'd be looking for a MIA standard P or J. A 2010 model on would be a good option due to the upgrades/quality control improvements that were introduced then but like I say, it is personal preference. One of the deluxe models (if you like active basses) would also be an option for you to consider. I have a 2009 deluxe jazz and it is superb and very underestimated bass. As such, second-hand prices on these make them something of a bargain

  10. I bought 2 of the HD 2 X 10 cabs from Mark earlier this year and stuck a GB STL9.0 on top. As chris b has said, no difference in sound from the shop to the venue. I use one of the 2 x 10's (8ohm) for rehersals and pair them up for gigs (less lugging around) and the 2 x 10's are more manageable than the 4 x 10. Added bonus is more air to push and the rig is taller than the 4 x 10 so closer to my ears. Fantastic set up, really happy with the rig. I've never lifted the HS cabs but believe they were lighter.
