1. Danny Growl. From what I've seen from his videos over the years, he goes as far as to get everything in Sheehan's backline at one point.

That's a lot of time and money spent to ultimately sound and play like someone else IMHO.

  2. Thanks for the advice and info guys, fortunately the buzzing has been solved. It must've had a slight over-bow as when I loosened the truss rod slightly, the buzzing disappeared. Just for clarity, being a 1991 Streamer it has a brass Just-A-Nut 1, the original nut saddle screw had lost its thread so it needed replacing regardless of the buzz.

The only reason as to why I've asked about the output difference on the pick ups is that any other active PJ bass I've had there was never as much of a difference in volume when either is soloed. On my Lakland the bridge is just as loud as the neck pick up, two previous Streamer LX's also had a more balanced output.

  3. Hey guys,

I'm currently in the middle of a trade for the bass in question, fortunately the seller has been kind enough to send me the bass first to make sure I'm happy with it, before doing so he did inform me of a slight problem which would only be a quick fix, which unfortunately now hasn't been the case.

The first issue is that there is significant buzzing at the first fret on the E string, the seller said that it might just require a new JAN saddle. I received the new saddle for the JAN today and installed it and the buzzing is still very much there. I've tried raising the action at the bridge and the bridge itself to compensate but it's still there. Raising the height of the JAN saddle dosen't make a difference either. So, me and the seller are guessing it might require some fret work if it is indeed related to being worn out after 25 years of use. Or does it sound like it might need a slight tweak of the truss rod?

The second issue is that the bridge pick up has a seriously low output compared to the neck pick up. I've tried raising the bridge pick up and it has made no difference. It obviously is working as when the blend is set to the centre you can hear it, but as soon as the bridge is soloed it becomes very weak. Could this be attributed to 25 years of wear and tear and needs new soldering?

    Thanks all,

    Josh.

  4. Hey guys,

Since having a Strymon Dig, I have had little to no use for this pedal as holding the tap tempo switch does exactly the same job on the Dig. I'd still be keeping it if I didn't have that facility though as it is a great pedal for practicing over chords and for building ambient textures, which was the primary reason I bought it for and it did a fantastic job. It has lived on my pedal board since it arrived and has never left the house, so the pedal and box are both in mint condition and the 9 volt adapter is still in its wrapping.

  5. I've vowed to never buy anything from PMT Online after my experience with them, summarised in my Facebook post from almost 2 years ago in regards to a USA Fender jazz I bought on finance with a £570 deposit:

"Well that USA Fender I bought back in April turned out to be a dud (through-body stringing furrels fell out upon changing the stock strings, dull tone, average playability) so I arranged to have it sent back and be refunded, it took about 2 weeks to have it collected which was dealt by another company; Dolphin Music.

It took another 2 weeks or more for them fix the fault and were ready to send it back to me despite the fact I had stated and was entitled to a refund. They then returned it to PMT and they would then sort out my refund. All the while I was the one doing all of the ringing despite being told they'd ring me.

When I then rung up to find out what was going on, that was about June time, this time another bloke was actually almost helpful and said he could actually order me in a bass that they don't stock, I said I was interested in a Lakland 55-60 and he said they could get one to me by the end of July (Coming in from Chicago) and on the same finance as before for no extra money.

Skip on a few months and basically the bass hasn't left the US and I have been practically lied to by this guy, he never rings me back when he says he will. I rang up today at 2ish and the guy said he'll ring me back in about 10 minutes, so I rang up again at 5:30 and found out the guy he's dealing with is off until Thursday and will find out what's going on then.

I might be a pessimistic/negative/bitter git but I generally have a good amount of patience but I think I've been beyond lenient with this whole thing and basically I've said if I find out it'll be more than a week then I want my refund".

I did finally recieve the bass by September 10th, that post was from September 2nd. In that time they still failed to phone me and also lied about the bass coming in on a shipment to the much superior, Guitarguitar.

After all of this I got a call a week after recieving the bass saying they felt bad about how long it took (no mention of an apology for the total lack of professionalism) and gave me a £50 voucher...to only be used online.

The moral of my story: Always shop with Guitarguitar, they are superior in every way.

Did the memory toy have the volume drop when you got it?
Not necessarily, I recall it having only a very slight volume drop, the problem it had was the modulation switch was set so that it gave the delay a horrible detuned sound which was unusable for me. I found the correct trim pot for the modulation and managed to sort that one out. It's been since then that I've noticed a severe drop in volume.

It is ironic as I've read that most guitarist have the opposite problem, there seems to be a volume boost as opposed to a drop.

  7. Hey guys,

These pedals have been seeing less use lately and both have minor faults which may require some attention, but these could also be good for someone who likes to experiment and fiddle with their pedals. The BMP must have a loose connection somewhere as there is a significant change in tone and as such I need to have the controls pretty much maxed out to get a useable tone. This bought secondhand from another member on here and was working perfectly fine, something must've happened in the time I've owned it that has caused the problem. The fault with the MT is merely a large volume drop when it is engaged. I did a bit of research and there is a large array of dip switches which alter different frequencies, the feedback and the modulation setting, which may rectify the volume issue.

Despite the issues the pedals are usable and are both in good used condition and are both supplied with their boxes.

  8. Hey guys,

I bought this from Chardbass about 3 months ago now and have enjoyed my time with this bass but I'm finding myself wanting a change, preferably for a Warwick or whatever else is out there. This is a 2002 Korean made Lakland and has the more sought after Lindy Fralin pick ups, however due to being 13 years old it has seen some action. There is a large chip to the top of the headstock and a minor ding on the back of the neck. Richard took this bass to Martin Peterson and had the neck smoothened out and as such the ding on the neck is unnoticeable by touch and the neck has a nice satin feel to it. There is some light buckle rash but other than that the body is in pretty good condition. Please bare in mind none of these dings/chips affect the playability of the bass whatsoever and are purely cosmetic.

The original passive electronics were changed to a Sadowsky preamp (2 volumes, bass, treble, push/pull active bypass). To accommodate the new preamp a battery clip was installed and the jack socket has been moved to the side of the bass. The original passive preamp will be included with the bass.

  9. Rich responded to my wanted ad very quickly and had exactly what I was after for a great price. The transaction went very smoothly and quickly and I would happily deal with Rich again.

    Thanks mate :)

  10. I've dealt with Richard twice and for the most recent transaction he was more than happy to let me pay via instalments and was an absolute gentlemen when I went to collect the bass from him in person.

    Buy with complete confidence.

    Thanks Richard!

I like these.just the string spacing argh im not sure about
I went from a Lakland JO5 which has a spacing of about 19mm to this and it was only a minor adjustment but I now don't even think about it as its comfortable. I'm pretty sure all SR's have the same spacing and is part of what makes them unique.
