1. I already have a 4x10 for when I need more volume...just looking for something to use when I know this wont be a problem (and when we've not got use of the van)! Incidentally...what do manufacturers mean by giving a 'programme' and 'continuous' power rating? Short bursts only?

2. Thanks.

Sorry...250 continuous/500 programme, thats what I meant.

This is what I was wondering, as its the smaller gigs where there you dont generally have the PA support!

Secondhand SP210 is the other option if I can find the pennies...

3. Im looking for a small/lightweight cab for quieter shows...seems to be the way things are going!
Does anyone have any experience of these?

Would be looking to pair it with by 500 Bass Terror...which naturally makes me wonder about the power rating of these cabs. Fender describe it as 500 watts RMS/Programme...what does this actually mean? Will it handle 500 watts being pumped into it (not that it will ever be cranked up to the max)?
£230 seems very cheap for a cab rated at 500 watts so wondering where the catch lies...

If this isnt the case...I guess the choice of 8 inch drivers is pretty limited!

Cheers ;)

4. Theres been a few threads on these but I cant seem to find what Im looking for.

I use a BT500 which I use in conjunction with an Eden Nemesis 4X10 cab and a p-bass.
I bought it in early 2010 and have been very pleased with it - the only criticism would be that I find it too ‘bassy’. I mainly play punk and surf music and to get the tone I want means backing off the bass to about 9 o’clock, mid to 10/11 and treble up to the 3 o’clock position, with tone almost all the way up on the precision.
It works…but doesn’t allow for much flexibility in the rig.

Adjusted the EQ to how I’d normally set it and was tinny as hell. Moved everything to 12 o’clock (flat) and it was perfect. Sounded amazing.

I did read on here that the new ones are fitted with better quality valves (but mainly for gain reduction) so wondered if that’s the main reason for the difference in sound?

Or are Eden cabs renowned for being bass heavy and Ashdown the opposite? I cant see that to be honest.

If it’s the valves on newer models, does anyone know if it’s a cheap/easy upgrade?

5. I'm no expert but try giving this one a go;

I got it just! Sometimes!
I figure being able to play Rancid stuff is mainly nailing that fast picking technique along with the major scales.
This may bridge the gap a bit...if it doesn't...hey ho, you've still learnt another killer lick!
