2. For sale is my AKG WMS40 SR40 stationary receiver....

I have had this from new for 4 years....it was a bit of a spur of the moment purchase due to the band i was playing in at the time being very energetic.

Included is 1 SR40 stationary receiver, 1 input bug, 1 power supply unit, 1 sidepart (this is the plastic cover for the input bug, there were 2 but one has been misplaced), 1 screwdriver.

has both balanced XLR output and unbalance 1/4 inch jack output.

This is a fantastic system which is just not getting enough use from me anymore.. The system is ideal for those in lively bands and it is actually very liberating not to have a lead attached to you! the range is good, being able to go about 10 metres away from the amp before you start to get latency. (could be more but i've never gone further)!

Sound Quality is great, there is adjustable squelch on the back of the unit to make sure you get interference free reception. There is also an adjustable volume on both the unit and the input bug. the unit is extremely light so as not to add too much weight to your rig.

The unit is no good to me anymore as i tend to do sessions or function band work, both of which seem to frown upon bass players running about!

No instruction book (can't remember if there ever was one) but you really don't need one. It is all pretty idiot proof tbh! :)

The unit can be rack mounted if you have a 19" rack but i never tried that.

Collection preferred, but am willing to post it. Postage costs will be added.

Looking for £65 ono for this.
get in touch if you want to know anything else....

  3. For sale is my Crafter GAB-24S Acoustic bass guitar.

I have owned the bass from new for about 4 years but it has only ever been used for a gig once and sparingly for practice.

Specs: Sitka solid spruce top, Rosewood back and sides, headway preamp, Abalone dot markers, Abalone soundhole inlay.

The bass is in very good condition with just a couple of small marks (see pics). Pulled it out to have a play the other day and it sounds great, really clear acoustic tone. The onboard pre amp is very effective as well with bass, mid, treble and scoop. Also has phase button and a mute button.

(the pic showing the back of the body is not showing marks, it just needs a clean, which i wil do obviously)

This is a great bass for anyone who does a lot of acoustic work (unlike me)! it's also great for practice if you're in a place where you can't plug in and turn up!

Comes with a good quality hard case...the case has seen better days (handle is currently gaffa'd on) but is does it's job and protected the bass really well when it was in the hold on a plane to Jamaica!

Don't think this model is available anymore which is a shame....

You're more than welcome to come and try the bass if you would like....Collection is preferred but i'm willing to meet up if it's a reasonable distance.
reluctant to post but won't rule that option out as a last resort.

    Looking for £180 ono

  4.
Was this one of the first ones with the oiled neck? I had a 1990 a few years back which maybe was one of the last with a satin laquer all over.

    Lovely bass btw.
I'm not sure tbh, my Stingray history isn't good....Gigged the bass all thru the weekend in 3 different situations and i gotta say it was just fantastic...really sits well in the mix (especially a bluesy/funk setting with the mutes on the E and slightly on A)

The bass really cut through better than my 5 string Sei....Why is that with older basses?! Also enjoying the simplicity of the 2 band eq! otherwise i spend the whole gig fiddling with onboard pre amps!

  5.
The early 90s Stingrays are cracking basses. Love the colour as well.
Cheers Alex....I genuinely can't put it down.....I'm currently sat jamming it with some Al Jarreau! :)

  6.
Is that bad boy coming to my birthday mate?
Sure thing! why not....You'll have to have a go...you'll love it!....the sweet sound of wood! :)

  7. Ok I am finally a Stingray owner!!

I used to lust after these as a kid but never got round to actually buying one....I forgot how much i love them until i played this one in a local music shop yesterday.....Needless to say I bought it there and then!

It was listed as '95 but as you can see when i took her apart she dates '93.....Few dings on her and a v well aged neck which works for me as I wanted something a bit mojo'd!

Lovely flame/birdseye maple neck.....weighs in just under 10lbs.....

As soon as i put the string mutes up on the E and A I knew it was the sound i've been searching for for sometime....Twas a good day!

    Hope you like :)

  8. Hi mate,
quite a selection of basses there..... however, sorry for your bereavement.....

You're gonna wanna put up some pictures and more detailed spec on the instruments to have any joy selling them to anyone on here....
Just thought i'd give you a heads up.....I'm particularly keen to see the Wal MKii!

    Good Luck

    Dave

  9. Little late on this...thought I'd bring mine to the party....

L-R Fender Jazz Deluxe (Wizard 64's and Gotoh replacement bridge), Sei Jazz bass (ebony board Aguilar Pre), Warwick Thumb (Ovangkol body, Custom inlays LED's :) )

    Hope you like!

  10. Ok so I actually did the upgrade on my bass back in July, I just kept forgetting to post the result!.....

In short it is an incredible difference! the Wizard 64's are fantastic, Front pickup gives me a great 60's thumpy sound and back pickup has bite and clarity....I use La Bella quarter rounds on it...

The Gotoh bridge has improved the sustain at least 5 fold! I have to admit i'm surprised it made that big a difference....

All in all I feel i essentially have a new bass for about £100!

String output issues have been solved, having twin poles in the pickups has cleared it all up......I even ended up fixing a long standing dodgy tone control while i had the bass opened up....the tone control on it is actually really good, I often find tone control can sound either on or off but this actually has a really good sweep....

So in conclusion i have fallen back in love with my J bass and now use it for a lot more work.....threw some pics in for good measure...

Thanks for all your advise on this guys! :)

  11. Tino, I'm really interested in coming to have a go on your P bass, (will call tomorrow)....did it come with the pickup and bridge cover or were they added after? do you have the serial no.? trying to find the spec for a 2008 American standard but without joy, any more info you have on it would be great!... :)

  12. Thanks guys...some interesting stuff

General consensus seems to be to try a load of them (won't that be a pain  )

tino whereabouts in herts are you? would love to try your P if its still for sale?

Obvs if i don't have to I'd rather not spend 1500, should be fun doing some discovering tho! :)

  13. Ok so after some more specific posts I've decided to just put it out there and ask you guys what you think the best P style bass to get is.....

Obvs i know a lot of people will say Fender but just wanted to test the water, see what else is out there...

I currently own a Jazz deluxe 4 string and a Sei 5 string and a fretless warwick thumb, so a nice thumpy P would complete my needs.... :)

Been thinking a bout the Nash basses but can't find anyone that has one or has played one so guys let me know what you think i should try out...budget is up to 1500

    Dave

  14. So....My constant search for a P bass that i like has now led me to Bill Nash.....

Whilst i can't decide how i feel about the relic thing rather than it actually just being old i think i'm leaning toward liking it! (especially when taking into account the price)! :)

I'm thinkng of ordering one of the 63 style basses with a lake Placid Blue finish and a light/medium relic as this is the fender that i one day desire!

Has anyone got one of his basses or played one? I've played on of his J basses and loved it more than a 76 Fender J I tried next to it....

    Let me know!

    Dave
