I’m going to guess that it originates from someone’s shed

The buzzard bass isn’t exactly mainstream is it? If someone was going to ruin a bass I’m happy it’s that ugly thing and not something good that the masses would want.
I really hope these Sadowsky basses turn out to be good value for money (which was likely the objective) and basschaters end up in a frenzy buying them up.
We can then all look back and laugh at this ludicrous thread.

Oh has that taken place? Not me then

Can someone put me out of my misery and tell me what the song is. Heard it before a few times but can’t think where it’s from

Bob Reynolds at Band on the wall twice. First time my parents were visiting as they were going to a show at Manchester arena. I misjudged the time it would take to walk from the arena to BOTW so despite walking so fast my girlfriend got blisters we arrived at the end of the first set. 15 mins into the second set my parents rang to say they’re show had finished and they were waiting for us. 🤬
Second time, had to leave halfway through the second set to catch last train back from Manchester Piccadilly. At that moment though Janek Gwizdala was doing his pedal thing and I just don’t find it musical, so wasn’t as bothered as before.

Just looked at the Kytary website - no strings!!!
Not sure if this is for the reason stated in @Teebs's post.
The stock list changes depending on country selected

Well if he’s saying reverse PU reduces the low mids, then I guess you’d want it the other way for when you need those low mids. In funk and Disco the bass often occupies those frequencies to cut through and be pronounced as it has an important role in that music.
The reverse P on Lee sklar’s P bass sounds epic but I imagine that’s more to do with his playing than the bass itself.

Depends on a lot. You could be pretty quick on very low action and with thin strings but it might not sound good. Pick or fingers?
I personally find I can play simple semi quaver patterns around 115- 120bpm finger style. Don’t think I could do that playing semi quaver scales though. But my action is medium and it’s harder on fretless to get the intonation Bob on at speed.
I suppose hand size would come into it too. I have small hands so can’t stretch like Jaco did.

Well that’s got my attention. Not played a Spector in a long time. I’ve always seen them as a basic looking Warwick and been put off by the 35” scale. Has anyone got a good Youtube example of how the Euro sounds?

I think I now know what I want. I'll just need to keep my eyes open for a bass that conforms to those wants.
I may have to put two of the three up for sale in the not too distant future.
If you know what you want great, get a custom made bass. There’s lots of really good UK luthiers. If it’s a jazz style bass shape I’d definitely be looking at Overwater.

I didn’t know that, do they use them on cheap instruments now, most of the ones I’ve seen have been on quite expensive basses 🙂
Sire do it. In the podcast kiwi shared they talked about how it makes the neck feel played in when new.

I had a version 1 V7 and the hardware was great. As reliable as the hipshot hardware I have on another bass, although maybe not as lightweight.

The thumb goes on the pick guard playing on the E and the E string playing everything else.
I had to retrain myself but damn what a difference to background sound...Even better, learn the floating thumb technique and master muting the E, A and D. Works on any bass.

If I really want it I'll offer to pay the extra fees to pay with protection, of they refuse to accept that then you know it's going to be a scam, same as being refused collection in person when an item is local.
Out of interest how much are the fees?

Yep, comments regarding the value of individual components mean little when those components have been so poorly put together. The whole in this case is less than the sum of the parts, although at used prices they were already stretching it. Seems someone’s trying to get a good return on a decent neck by bolting it to a few other bits and proclaiming it a US instrument. I find Bass Direct are generally OK on these things, this one must have slipped through I guess
Nothing on bass direct. They ask the owner what they want for it and put their commission on top. If it sells it sells, if not nothing lost.

Really liked these when I worked in a fender dealership, I fitted a wide bevel celluloid tort pickguard to one I sold for the customer and added covers. Looked the dogs danglies...
Yeh I’ve seen similar Moollon’s with that combo and they look great. Specs were US standard pickups, blizzard Pearl finish, B width neck. I also love how the body colour matches the logo. Mine has been fitted with Lindy Fralin pickups and had the fretwork sorted out at the Gallery which really helped the action.
Just found this old clip I played it on (wow 7 years ago!)-

Kent Armstrong, A little Kent history
in General Discussion
Posted
My first overwater came with Ken Armstrong pickups and a John East preamp. It really was a thunderous sound. Anyone got any ideas on when his pickups were in Ken Smith basses?
