1. Hiya fellow Basschatters, my Fender MIJ (Made in Japan) Precision bass with Foto Flame finish is up for sale. Unfortunately, I'm having to sell some of my gear because of finances... Children cost fortune! It has literally sat looking pretty on a stand in my front room for the last year and gets picked up for a play once in a while.

The Serial Number is S010809. Which according to the guitardaterproject.org means it was made between 94-95 in the Fuji-gen Plant (for Fender Japan) which apparently is one of the good ones.

The bass has a John East P-retro Preamp along with Nordstrand NP4 pickups, it also has Legacy strings, which are actually pretty decent.

As the bass has a Foto Flame finish it has cracks all over it which I have tried to show in the photos below. Also one of the previous owners seems to have attacked the truss adjuster. The nut has a crack in it, but it doesn't seem to effect how it plays. I've tried to show the scratches in the pictures, but they don't really come out in pictures and you can't really see them if you are a few feet away from the bass. Mojo that adds to the character, of course. :-)

The bass comes with the preamp charger and a decent hard case.

    SOLD!

Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

    Here is my feedback http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1750782

    Hi

Depends what kind of music you play and how loud ?

I play old school rock i rehearse with it but don't gig it as we have a LOUD drummer.

Cheers for the reply dude. I will be playing 80's/90's rock stuff.... Our drummer is a pretty hard hitter.

If I chucked on a 4x10 and 2x10 cab, would it leave much headroom? I would worry about ragging it too much if it were turned right up all the time.

    Chris

  3. Heya chap,

I'm interested in the head. What kind of volume do you get from it? I'm a little worried it might not have the balls when pushed on stage.... Wocha think. Am I looking at the wrong amp for gigging?

    Cheers,

    Chris

  4. Now chaps.....

After searching through my finances, I may be able to purchase a cheap head for my new band venture.

I'm finding it hard to ignore the Harley Benton BA500H. Read a couple of decent reviews on here and it seems like there isn't anything that comes close for under £200.... Or is there?

    Discuss!

    :-)

  5. Thanks for the advice guys. I think I need to keep the Wem as it holds a fair amount of sentimental value.

I've got the B'inger Sansamp GT2 clone, which I think is excellent (for £15)... So might play around with what you guys have said, until I can sort out a power potent rig.

    Cheers again.

I'd go for 'none of the above'.

    Adding a 4x10 isn't going to make it any louder - it'll still be a 45W combo.
It's resale value isn't going to be very high as they weren't hugely expensive when they were released.

I don't really have an answer to your problem other than suggesting you mic up the combo and feed it into the PA system to give you a bit more 'oomph'....

Had a feeling it would be 'none of the above'.... Although I saw a 25 version go on Ebay for £190 the other day and when I plugged my old 4x10 in to it, it sounded wicked.

It should just be left as a practice amp I think though.

  7. Heya guys,

I thought I would consult with my peers on here before I did anything silly, or potentially silly.

I've just gotten in to a new band after not playing for a year and selling my Mark Bass rig. I've got an old Wem Dominator 45 which I've upgraded a bit and put a new speaker in, but I'm not sure whether it would be loud enough for the new band. It sounds ace, but the more you crank it, the gainier it gets and I need something fairly clean for the new material I'll be playing.

Do you think I should sell it?

    or

Buy a 4x10 and run that to make it a bit louder?

    or

    None of the above?

Funds are tight with a new baby just arriving and I can't blast a few hundred quid on something at the minute.

    Cheers dudes.

  8. Hi all,

I'm not in a band anymore and my very lovely sounding Markbass head is not doing anything. So time to move it on.

The head is a 500w at 4ohm or 300 at 8ohm. It packs and almighty punch and gives plenty of headroom. It really kicks and has done me proud at plenty of gigs.

The head is in good condition, but has slight marks and scratches as it has been gigged. It's still very presentable though.

It was used to record the bass on this...... http://soundcloud.co...-masked-bencher
So you can get to know the real crisp sounds it can produce, but paired with a distortion or fuzz it can be a real handful.

I'm asking £330 inc UK delivery.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

    SOLD!!!!!!!

  9. If you can get to Stratford, give Tom at Monochrome Productions a call. Top chap and his studio is beyond awesome.
