  1. Hey all, just bought an Aguilar TLC compressor from John. Good price for a lovely compressor. I think he’s beaten the Basschat fastest post record also as it was around 24 hrs since purchase to delivery 😎👍🏼. Recommended BCer!

    Board version #1282651876.1

Added the jive at the end of my chain, but before my preamp. Makes my synths sound bigger and my octaves sound filthy...takes away a bit of this je ne sais quoi mid punch my jazz and sandberg have both got, but it adds a weight and depth that works better in the mix...

Thinking a compressor at the beginning may be the final piece of the puzzle 🤔.

Would love a wireless midi controller for my C4 and ultrawave, but that seems to be a logistical nightmare...

    Great board you have there,

I am however getting a nervous twitch at that slightly wonky C4 ha ha 😆, don’t worry it really is just my issue 🤪

  3. .... I'd go for a TC Electronic Spectracomp tbh. Many different compressors in a one control box. Use it in a very simple manner, or with the tone prints go a bit deeper, then edit the tone prints to go really deep. All things to all men type of compressor for around £50ish used.

  4. ... I forgot I've also a clone of an Earthquaker Devices Seamachine. That is a kind of chorus/reverb pedal that can sound great, and finally a Dr. J Shadow Echo that for the price is really great. Don't let the less expensive prices put you off in any way. The Dr. J looks like a boutique pedal but is very reasonably priced.

  5. ... I've currently got a TC Corona mini that sounds really great, a TC 3rd Dimension that seems again nice (but not a versatile due to only push button controls), a VFE Choral Reef, a great pedal that uses two different chip sets and has loads of control. Lastly I have an EHX Eddy, I think this one would probably work better on guitar as some of it's features are very hard to hear on bass, it also sounds a bit too soft for my personal tastes.

Out of the lot, even though I love analogue stuff, the TC Corona mini does indeed sound great, with the added versatility of tone prints you really can't go wrong with it (and the fact that used ones in the UK go for around £40 - £50!)

  6. Hey all, just bought a couple of pedals from Ben. Great communication, extra pictures when requested were super fast and a pleasure to deal with. A credit to the BC community, cheers 👍

  7. … I have a few pedals and a few boards. I tried going down the D’addario XPND board route and stick to a larger home board and smaller gig board (church and Motown stuff).

However I’m not a fan of Vecro in any way (at least for pedals lol) and much prefer Dual Lock. So I have a few Pedaltrain boards of different sizes and will change my boards according to need/taste.

Currently I’ve a board for Motown stuff, a board for church stuff, a practice board and a mini looping board.

I’ve come to realise I like the idea of having a choice, like when using a multi fx, but with an analogue pedal setup ha ha 🤪

Oh, and I love building boards also 👍🏼

  8. ... I've been playing ampless at church for years now, and around 3 or so gigs for the Soul/Motown band I also play in. Truth be told I am starting to miss the vibe I got when were were not IEM in the Motown band, however my ears have not been ringing after rehearsals and gigs! Also we can hear each other much better!

Anyhow, back to the point, I use One Control AAIB pedals and a cheap Fender Micro DI that has a cab sim button on it. Not expensive if bought used and through headphones the sound is ace. I currently have the Crimson Red AAIB (Amp in a Box) pedal on the gig board, but also have the other AAIB pedals from One Control if I need a different sounding 'Amp' etc.
