Not tried it yet lol, I’ll have a play over the weekend 👍🏻

… well I’ve tried it and it’ll knock off the Grizzly Bass on my fretted board for the moment. Not compared it to anything else, but like what I hear and how it makes the bass feel under the fingers. I actually don’t like that much cab sim applied (takes off too much high end), and like a bit of grit to the sound when mild gain applied. With the comp I’ve tried it with (Greer Lamplighter Optical comp) I think I actually prefer it with minimal or nil compression. Got other compressors to try with it though. Will be interesting to compare it to the Slampegg and Beta Mk 2 at some point (and the TC Spark and Mojo Mojo for less expensive variants!).

Glad I bought it thankfully 👍🏻

This is what I’m down to now and couldn’t be happier with it, Starlifter is immense and the Anagram does everything I could ask for really, only took me a net loss of about £2k buying selling pedals to arrive here 😁

… think you may need to get a new spirit level, that Starlifter has been knocked off course when it went through the asteroid belt on re-entry Paddy 😁.

Your prices are the keenest on the net my friend!!

Just finished soldering the last few cables for this board for a new tour that starts in Feb.

    Signal chain is:

    Instruments > Quad Cortex

MC3 handles instrument switching and muting. Grape is in one of the QC’s FX Loops. The Peterson is on the Send from the other FX Loop in monitor mode so it’s always active and gives visual feedback of instrument tuning/intonation at all times.

All Ins/Outs are fed through the Mod:

    IMG_2868.thumb.jpeg.8eff3eaecabe4b5a4889273c38c5c1b0.jpeg

    Ins:

Upright Bass mic > Mod XLR in > QC Input 1 (XLR with Phantom power)

    Upright Bass piezo > Mod 1/4” > QC Input 2 (1/4” Jack)

    Electric Bass > Mod 1/4” > QC Return 1

    Outs:

QC XLR 1 (Electric Bass) > Mod XLR Out 1

QC XLR 2 (Upright) > Mod XLR Out 2

QC Output 4 (TRS) > Mod 1/4” (mix of all 3 signals (mic/piezo of upright and electric) to feed my Porter and Davies Gigster

    Power:

Everything powered by a Cioks DC7, with the Crux powering the Quad Cortex.

I bodged the drilling a little bit, but I installed one of these nifty Powercon In/Out units allowing me to daisy chain power from my board to the rack with the P&D Gigster in it.

    All jack plugs are Squareplugs

Nice to see the Grape Phaser included in your setup 👍🏻

  4. Hey there, yup it is indeed a Red Panda mixer (mono 3 into 1). I do also play Fretless when the set warrants it, so having the 3rd input comes in handy. Separate volume for each channel and hi fi quality circuit inside so no volume or sonic issues at all (the mixer is powered so hence no volume drops etc.

I have used a Boss LS2 using the channel A+B option (need a dummy plug in the input) and there are separate volume controls for each channel then also.

I prefer having the instruments live all the time, as I can switch between bass and key bass mid song (verse chorus etc) when it’s suitable without having to step on

    anything!

  5. … spent a bit of time taking the stickiness off the Sub Phatty end caps last night before it’s first outing at church this morning. All good and about half the worship set was spent using it, a very phat sound indeed (kind of makes the electric sound a bit weak in comparison though 🤔🫣😁)

@jimbobothy I've been thinking of a modular setup a bit like yours, but I've not yet figured out what to do in terms of power.  Or where/how to insert each board in the signal chain. Interested to hear how you get on.

… well the Redpanda 3 into 1 mono mixer is the key, this alows me to have 3 separate boards each only going into the last board (the utility one with DI) to go to FOH. Power will be via 1 Spot 9V PSU if they all play nicely (after checking before building the boards lol). I’ll probably need x 2 PSU and x2 small daisy chain cables. I’ve got some pedals on ‘the shelf’ that need other power, so if I end up using those I’ll need to rethink the power requirements then.

Hopefully it’ll all come together 🤣

  7. … so had a break from putting boards together (as they take so long and I keep on changing them, I’m sure that’s never happened before on here 🤣🤣).

The plan is to have a modular Pedaltrain  Nano system, so everything ends up going through the utility board (Red Panda Mixer - Polytune 3 Mini - Lusithand Alma Mk 3 - Sfx Microthumpinator V2 - Franklin Audio Passive DI):

    IMG_4787.thumb.jpeg.8a8e0730eb2d92a0ff7fabd4740088a2.jpeg

The instrument boards are for a Fretless (Cali 76 Bass - DCX Bass - MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe - MXR Carbon Copy):

Fretted (G-Lab BC 1 Comp - Creation Audio Grizzly Bass - Creation Audio Funkulator):

    IMG_4784.thumb.jpeg.3629cd119f8657786dcccc1852d4b13e.jpeg

and lastly the modulation board for Key Bass (Empress Effects Tremolo 2 - Vein Tap Dark Arts (Phaser) - EHX Eddy (Chorus) - MXR Carbon Copy Delay Mini):

    IMG_4785.thumb.jpeg.c3c277afe4b8fe272e0b18e8cda86b5e.jpeg

The idea is to be able to be more discerning with pedal choices for different instruments.

I play at church and sometimes want to use all three

instruments (no, not at the same time 🤣), sometimes only two and other occasions fretted only. This should make things more simple and easier to move about, rather than having a monster board where most of the pedals aren’t used!

I’ll post pics when it’s all tested and built up, but you hopefully get the idea of my thinking.

    Peace.
