@jimbobothy I've been thinking of a modular setup a bit like yours, but I've not yet figured out what to do in terms of power.  Or where/how to insert each board in the signal chain. Interested to hear how you get on.

… well the Redpanda 3 into 1 mono mixer is the key, this alows me to have 3 separate boards each only going into the last board (the utility one with DI) to go to FOH. Power will be via 1 Spot 9V PSU if they all play nicely (after checking before building the boards lol). I’ll probably need x 2 PSU and x2 small daisy chain cables. I’ve got some pedals on ‘the shelf’ that need other power, so if I end up using those I’ll need to rethink the power requirements then.

Hopefully it’ll all come together 🤣

  2. … so had a break from putting boards together (as they take so long and I keep on changing them, I’m sure that’s never happened before on here 🤣🤣).

The plan is to have a modular Pedaltrain  Nano system, so everything ends up going through the utility board (Red Panda Mixer - Polytune 3 Mini - Lusithand Alma Mk 3 - Sfx Microthumpinator V2 - Franklin Audio Passive DI):

The instrument boards are for a Fretless (Cali 76 Bass - DCX Bass - MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe - MXR Carbon Copy):

Fretted (G-Lab BC 1 Comp - Creation Audio Grizzly Bass - Creation Audio Funkulator):

and lastly the modulation board for Key Bass (Empress Effects Tremolo 2 - Vein Tap Dark Arts (Phaser) - EHX Eddy (Chorus) - MXR Carbon Copy Delay Mini):

The idea is to be able to be more discerning with pedal choices for different instruments.

I play at church and sometimes want to use all three

instruments (no, not at the same time 🤣), sometimes only two and other occasions fretted only. This should make things more simple and easier to move about, rather than having a monster board where most of the pedals aren’t used!

I’ll post pics when it’s all tested and built up, but you hopefully get the idea of my thinking.

    Peace.

  3. Hey all,

Just purchased a little pedalboard mixer from Alan, top stuff all around (great price, comms and packaging). I’d definitely deal with again as he’s a trusted BCer.

    Peace.

    What’s the SFX Micro Energiser?

    Si

As far as I know it’s similarish to the Aphex Aural Exciter and Big Bottom pedal. I also think it sounds a bit like the Creation Audio Funkulator, at least how I had it set. Gives a nicer bottom end, with added highs, I have the high set lower amount as it gives a whine when it’s set too high, maybe a combo of a fault or having 2 comps lol!

  5. … it’s a decent pedal, I currently run it clean at church as this seems to suit how I play there. At home I do like to add a little bit of hair/grit etc, but not much. It can go full on if wanted, but not my thing tbh. Adds a nice ‘vibe’ to the sound easily. Always a bit odd describing sound with words, but there you go 🤣

  6. … I’ve done a bit of digging and it’s the rubberised coating that was used for grip/aesthetics and is a fairly common thing apparently on multiple products, not just Moog end cheeks and mod wheels. Hopefully it’s just the coating that is unstable and not the base plastic. I’ll report back on how it cleans up when I get around to doing it 👍🏻

  7. Cheers. I think it is the plastic/hard rubber itself, at least on the mod wheels. Using alcohol does clean off the residual stickiness for a couple of years I’ve been told. I think I read it was the coating on the end cheeks, but not sure. I’ll see how it goes/last when I get around to doing it. At least for the end cheeks I could make some if need be. Good shout out about 3D printing the mod wheels though, maybe in the style of the ones on the Grandmother and Messenger etc?

  8. … bought if off here a while back, at certain settings it’s got a high pitched whine (emphasised by the comps), but when adjusted correctly it sounds ace. I originally had a Creation Audio Funkulator in its place that to my ears did a similar thing (with the setting I used), but it was too big to fit onto a Nano!  I think the Sfx was designed to be similar to the Aphex Exciter/Big Bottom type of thing IIRC.
