No problem Stuee! I had unfortunately joined the reggae band just after I got my cabinet, and I already knew straight away that it wouldn't be the right cabinet for that band! That's when I started to realise I may have made the wrong decision concerning suitability.

Hi there Stuee!

Basically, I was looking at a lot of tweetered cabinets and for the ones that have a fairly wide frequency range. The NL-210 is a great cabinet because, interestingly, although it does go pretty high the tweeter goes up to about 14khz (which is not completely stratospheric). The tweeter can be had surprisingly high before things get a little 'too' much! A truly natural sounding cabinet - if you want a cabinet that'll reproduce what you put in very faithfully, this is what you want! The NL-210 also goes satisfyingly deep ! Not 'the' deepest 2x10 most likely, but in relative terms definitely one of the deeper ones.

I've been playing in groups such as a reggae band and an old school jazz/swing band, and in these contexts I then found that I wasn't using the tweeter a great deal. The great thing is that the speakers actually have a decent level of brightness, so the tweeter is fortunately a fairly optional thing. However, I have definitely come to the conclusion that something a bit more 'old school' (and probably something without a tweeter) would probably be my best bet this cab sits great in most styles of music, but when you're playing reggae (especially) you end up EQ'ing out so much of what the NL-210 does so well I then decided what I first had in mind probably wasn't right for me.

That's a very interesting read.

How do you power your OC-2 as well? If you run it with batteries or with a 12V input, it will run internally fine at 9V but if you run it with a 9V input it'll run lower than 9V as (strangely) there is a resistor that brings the voltage down by a few volts as the original Boss adaptor (ACA?) was actually 12V, so the pedal then needed to be stepped down to 9V...very strange.

When I didn't realise this, I got some distortion with my OC-2 and a few other minor problems but it was completely fixed once I started putting 12V into it.

I have this particular Dave Hall Amps pedal for sale. I originally had this for sale a few months ago but when the buyer received it, he unfortunately found that the Boost and I/P knobs were crackly (to my huge bemusement). I have kept this pedal safe since then, but it doesn't seem to be a profound problem at all. It seems like a pretty big build up of dust on the pots because when I've given them a bit of a stiff swoosh around quite a bit of the noise goes, so I am going to put some arm grease into it. Either way, I will make the situation on this *very* clear before I send it out but I do reckon that there isn't an actual mechanical problem with them.

I'm trying to find the original pictures for it but it's aesthetically and internally in very sound condition. With all these considerations £70 including postage would seem fair! I can also include the original adapter for £7.50 (originally about £19) as it is a 12V centre positive which is a wee bit unusual.

I have a Peavey Forum AX for sale - a bass that not many people have heard about before. A bona fide USA Peavey, I have found that it's a bit of a poor man's Modulus Flea (and I do mean that a little loosely, don't worry) as it has a middle position Music Man-esque pickup and an active (18V) EQ.



Here is an image stolen(!) from TalkBass, but this is a very good starting illustration. It plays deceptively very, very well and I have held onto this for some time.

Will put my own photos up soon, but how does £250 sound?

Yeah, I'll push the EA end of the spectrum forward. The non-Wizzy cabinets can be considered very good for multi-instrumental applications at least such as keyboard and acoustic guitar (I've played an acoustic guitar through my NL-210 and it sounded great). That particular cabinet is even listed as useful as a drum monitor, so there's some interesting suggestibility...

Simple question. Where have people sourced their Precision Bass bodies from in the UK? I know of Warmoth, but I also know of the import tangles that can be connected to that too! I've sent a message off to Brandoni guitars, but in the meantime I will carry on looking around.

I would preferably like it finished as well but for the particular project I'm working on I'm reasonably unfussy about *what* finish it is. Also, I am half considering having the contours removed (a la slab bodied Precision Bass) if this helps refine matters.
