I have for sale a pair of Bartolini Mk1 soapbars that have come out of a Lakland 44-01. In perfect working condition and [b]come with the pickup foam and screws.[/b]

I'm actually a genuine fan of these pickups, as they are a modern 'sweet' sounding pickup without brittleness or sounding scooped. In the right positions in a bass, they can definitely do classic passive sounds such as Jazz and Precision bass and the only reason I took these out of my Lakland was because I wanted to put true single coils in my bass. These are very nice versatile pickups that aren't given enough credit can also work on anything from 4 strings and up due to being one long bar inside the pickup.


Some usual cosmetic wear at the tops of the pickups, but pretty marginal and will clean out okay I imagine. They also have a generous amount of wire left.

The seller sounds very aggressive - was this unprompted? I would be very suspicious of this if he was like this immediately.

This doesn't sound like a major issue, so I wouldn't panic. As some have mentioned it sounds like pots are at play somewhere. Where do you live? I may be able to fix it for you.

I'm considering putting my amp up for sale - it's got a couple of nicks here and there, but it is in PERFECT working condition. A complete workhorse and it obviously sounds fab! 300W at 8 ohms and 500W at 4 ohms - it was very sad that Markbass decided to discontinue this amp.

Thanks for your offer at least for the moment though, I must say that it'd be really nice to have 25s and 15s but don't be surprised once I get the 15s that I may just keep those. I could let you know soon-ish if you like (probably after my first gig with the 15s)?

That's no problem. I don't know if you saw my earplug model posted above, but they look like the same ones don't they? I have clear filters at the moment and they look identical to the clear ones you used as an example.

Those looks like the right ones for my plugs I would definitely like the pair if that's okay! I've currently got ER-25s and they're a little excessive sometimes.

I'll definitely take those. In fact, I'd rather have the natural coloured ones! I just need to make sure that they're the ones that fit my mould, although I'm pretty sure that they are...?

I've seen a few places online to buy them, but they were slightly pricey and in the USA (the latter I'm willing to go for if the price is right). Alternatively, I imagine some people may have their one left over from their USA 1962 Jazz Bass. If so, please get in touch.

I'm ordering a new bass body that doesn't have any pre drilled holes for a bridge (I'm just attaching a standard five hole bridge). Is this difficult to do by myself? Is there anything to bear in mind?

Will put pictures up in a minute, but I'm selling my Badass II bridge. It's in very good condition and thankfully whoever grooved the saddles did a very good job (unlike the one that came with my Marcus Miller ). It also comes with screws.

A while back, I got some advice on who makes bodies in the UK as I've been looking for a jazz bass body for quite some time. I got some really good advice, especially an e-mail address of somebody on here who makes really good quality bodies. However, I've a) lost the e-mail, and lost the thread so, I ask the identical question again - who makes good value, quality bodies in the UK (and definitely including members on Basschat)?
