Here's a stupidly funky tune my gran (bizarre I know) used to play a lot when me and my brother were younger. Usually we'd end up dancing around the living room in our pyjamas too it. :) Happy memories, killer track!

Really cool! That's obviously got a really big Michael Jackson feel, but that's not really a problem right :)? Synth bass like that is just awesome though - how about some Cameo?

  2. Hello everybody!

As the title says, I'm now starting the rather complex process of getting hold of a double bass. I'm really not too fussy at the moment, but it has be reasonably playable (I'm too worried about injuries) and not have any significant damage (I already realise that sometimes double basses can sustain some damage and be okay).

I'm around the Brighton area but I'm obviously willing to travel to have a look. Bearing in mind that I hardly know anything about double basses, £600 give or take is my rough budget by the looks of things at the moment.

    Thanks very much :)

  3. I don't want to be facetious, but after a near full-on electric shock due to a defeated ground running through my amp it has got to be my socket tester. They're not much money, but I would recommend it to ANYBODY. It scared the absolute hell out of me and I was lucky to get away with a numb left arm for 20 minutes.

I have a DVDRW, a DVDROM & 2 x CD ROM drives I don't need. Welcome to 'em for postage.

Are either the DVDROM or DVD-RW drives SATA? I could really do with one of these :)

  5. Hello all,

Will put up some pics soon, but I'm thinking about selling this pedal as I'm not really using it a great deal at the moment. It's in very good condition minus a few surface scratches on one side.

Let me know if you have any questions :)

  6. This is the problem mate - sometimes, I have been hitting the limiter on my amp which feels really nasty 'under my hands'. Would using a power amp like this be an effective solution?

My girlfriend actually also has a Barefaced Compact which I can use on a few occasions, but for a number of reasons I don't want to take it around all of the time :) it's not technically mine for one!

  7. Hello all!

I have a Markbass SA450 amp, and I am considering buying a power amplifier to give me some more headroom on my bigger gigs with one cabinet (a Barefaced Compact) such as this one:

This, by the looks of things, has an XLR in on the back and in mono configuration outputs 600w at 8 ohms which is double of the Markbass SA450.

Would this interface okay with the XLR out on the amp? The SA450 also has an adjustable line out level which could prove very handy for setting the level right going into the power amp. My logic here is I can take this with me in the boot of my car and if it turns out I need for volume I can whip it out and gain instantly much more headroom.

Any advice would be great appreciated!

Lovely Bakelite style knobs, not the smaller modern repros. In great condition, I have no idea what to ask so I will put it up for swaps WHY?

    Cheers

    PM'd :)

  9. That sounds like brilliant stuff! Have a good one.
If anyones in Doncaster on Sunday lunch im playing with Dennis Rollins and Pee Wee Ellis. Its at Coco Ice cocktail bar in the Market Place on Sunday, July 24 from about 2.
Im depping in the band so dont know what to expect but am really looking forward to playing with such an amazing horn section. My friend Mark Ellis is also playing and hes one of my favorite sax players. Obviously Dennis Rollins and Pee Wee Ellis are both renowned players.

Its looking like its gonna be more jazz than funk. But as Pee Wee Ellis wrote Pass the Peas, the Chicken and co wrote Cold sweat with James Brown im packing my bass guitar along with the upright :-)

  10. The Compact is a simply unbelievable cabinet. I too have also found that, when played at least louder than bedroom volume, the amount of treble available is actually more than enough for most things which makes it a pretty pleasing cabinet to EQ.

Obviously, it would be good advice to try one for yourself, but I would step my toes on the line and say that it seems like a fairly hard cabinet not to like, especially given the time to get used to it :) .
' post='1313234' date='Jul 22 2011, 09:02 PM']Right, all understood. I've even read this paragraph on the barefaced compact website

    What about a tweeter?
If you just want a nice clear sound, with some treble bite when you pop a note and enough brightness to always hear the details of your playing then this cab does all that without the cost, weight and complexity of a good tweeter system or without the numerous sonic downsides of cheaper and less well designed tweeters. If you like the extended highs of a high quality tweeter then we recommend our Midget T or Super Twelve T as adding a tweeter to the Compact would cause inconsistent polar response due to the mellower off-axis response of the Compact's larger woofer.

But I can't help but notice the Super Twelve...

Either way, am I assuming the consensus is return the Ampeg?
