    "Deacon-ification" Fender CIJ non-export 70's PBass

    Here's my own Deacy tribute:

    [b]Ingredients[/b]

    1 Squier Affinity Black P-Bass - £99 from Big Deal (RIP) in Sheffield. Secondhand but in as new condition.
    1 chrome Schaller 3D Bridge - £30 from a fellow BC'er.
    1 black scratchplate bought from the internet - approx £10.
    1 set of Rotosound jazz bass flatwounds as per the man - approx £25.

    Total cost approx £165.

    Sounds surprisingly good. Couldn't justify the extra cost of going for gold hardware but I reckon the average punter wouldn't notice. The bridge was worth every penny of the £30. The piece of tin that was originally on there was 'weight saving' to say the least.

    Tony Kanal is totally underrated IMO. I think I mentioned him earlier on in this thread.

    Different People is probably one of my favourite basslines ever to play. Closely followed by Spiderwebs.

    I highly recommend the Live in the Tragic Kingdom DVD to check out his playing. I was lucky enough to see them on that tour in 1997? at Manchester Apollo and they rocked. Supported by the Vandals if I remember correctly who also brought the house down. Good times!

    It's on the Overwater site now so I can announce I am the incredibly lucky winner of the Overwater comp.

    I just couldn't believe it when an email from Chris May popped into my inbox on Tuesday night, asking me to contact him. One phone call and a million thank yous later and I couldn't get the smile off my face.

    I'm just getting some initial thoughts together on the spec but even after years of lusting after a custom build that's not easy. A trip to Carlisle is definitely on the cards.

    I will of course keep you updated on progress.

    + 1 for Skints. Saw them with Sonic Boom 6 and I thought they were actually better than SB6 which is going some...

    I also highly recommend the Dance Hall Crashers for twin female-fronted ska punk goodness. Don't think Sublime have been mentioned either.

    +1 for Bravado.

    They're from Doncaster and are excellent. In fact they actually got me into Rush!

    Pod (Geddy) works in Electro Music in Doncaster and sold me my first Trace Elliot head (back in the day)...
    Think some of the others might work there too.

    Yamaha BB414 four string - WITHDRAWN

    Yamaha BB414 passive four string. Great all round bass. Particularly good for slapping both in terms of tone and playability.

    Hardly been played and in almost as new condition. Just one very minor identation on the top edge of the bass which looks to me like it was a manufacturing fault (see pic below)

    Got major gas attack on [url="http://www.wizardguitars.com/BassGuitars.php?product=1042&action=moreinfo&offset=0"]this[/url] bass so this is priced for a quick sale:

    WITHDRAWN - due to gas attack subsidence.

    I have also done the course where I made this:



    I cannot recommend the course enough. I did the five day one with 3 other students but got more than enough of Jon's expert advice. Total cost was around £600 including materials.

    Main thing is I really didn't expect to come with a bass of such quality made from my own hands. Somehow Jon coaxed it out of me!!!

    sixshooter is quoting 900watts, it will be powerful and loud. 12's always seemed to be quite good middle ground between the pro' and cons of 10 and 15's.
