1. Saw this rather excellent cellist:

    http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...endid=212396971

last weekend a couple of times supporting Gemma Hayes and now I wouldn't mind having a go...

Anyone give me any advice on what price range a decent cello and bow would be in? Plus tips on transferring from bass (I do play an unlined fretless)

For you effects freaks she was playing through an EHX Micro POG and Boss DD5 or DD6 delay and it sounded rather ace. plus she did some looping with a Boss RC20.

  2. Kahler 5 String Tremolo Bridge - Original in black.

I got this off of ebay a few years ago but never got around to installing it. It's an original model and was still in it's packaging when I got it. Therefore comes with routing template, allen keys, mounting screws and instructions.

In excellent condition as has never been mounted on a bass. The re-issues are $400 plus shipping and import duty.

    £120 including P & P

  3.
Your preferences are already stated so don't get too hung up on these but you should have a listen to people like, even if its only the once:

Percy Jones - Brand X - jazz-rock/fusion but some interesting ways of using a fretless bass. Some ideas may be transferable to your own thing so worth checking out.

John Giblin - also played with Brand X but also did some Simple Minds and other more mainstream stuff.

Mo Foster - English session player who has his own thing - great tone.

Dill Katz - another Britsh fusioneer

    Steve Bailey - 6-string fretless

Jack Bruce (post Cream) uses a fretless Warwick bass guitar.

Sean Malone played a fretless bass on the technical death metal band Cynic's sole album "Focus."

Rick Danko (of The Band) used a fretless bass in early recordings

Steve DiGiorgio (one of the few fretless bassists in the metal scene) usually plays a five string fretless bass.

Mick Karn (former bassist of Japan and avantgarde musician) used fretless bass guitar since the late 1970s. Very interesting but very stylised

Tony Levin - bass player with Peter Gabriel and King Crimson

Alain Caron - UZEB - great technique but a bit soulless

Pino Palladino, a session bassist, has developed a fretless bass method.

Jeroen Paul Thesseling, fretless bassist, plays microtonal world music using six-string fretless Warwick basses.

John Myung, (bassist for Dream Theater).

Garry Gary Beers, (bassist for INXS).

Josh Ansley, (former bassist of Catch 22) is well known for his innovative fretless bass styles.

Colin Edwin, (bassist for Porcupine Tree).

Bunny Brunel used a fretless bass on a PBS special concert with Chick Corea, Gary Burton, Al Jarreau

Victor Wooten uses a custom five-string fretless bass on several of his own songs as well as several Bela Fleck and the Flecktones songs.

Paul Simonon from The Clash used a fretless Fender Precision Bass in 1981, during the period of their Sandinista! album.

and, of course, Bakithi Kumalo, who has performed and recorded with Paul Simon (Graceland CD) and others.

    Oh - and me.
Garry Gary Beers - which album/songs?

  4. Two underated 90's bass playing classics:

No Doubt - Tragic Kingdom - Tony Kanal on top form nailing about 10 different genres of bass playing. Great tone from the Yamaha BB.
Rancid - And Out Come The Wolves - truly magnificent punk bass playing. Bass solo in a punk song - what?! Ace!

  5. In

Devi Ever Peep expression device - not bad for £23 posted from the US. Works well with my Boss FT2. Will try with my other expression jack enabled pedals...

    Keeper

Nano Q-Tron on reflection I do like this pedal. So what if I've already got a load of other filter pedals...

  6. Very good pedal. Only slight problem is a little bit of volume drop.

Not really into mods but always fancied having this one modded. I think Keeley and Analogman do it..

Think I prefer it to the PN2 but that does do rather good stereo panning..

  7. Just in

    2nd Boss RV3 - Sweet pedal
EHX vintage Clone Theory - £60 bargain from fellow bass chatter. Lovely sound and condition - shame about the fooprint. Much mandatory playing of Love Will Never Tear Us Apart and Come As You Are.

    On way

Gig-fx Chopper - looking forward to this. been after one for a while. Scooped off the bay for £80...

    Out

EHX Nano Q Tron thingy - Still don't like the Q-Tron...

Damn gassing for the Chunk pedal now. Have the Agent OO funk and the Brown Dog and together they said ace...

  8. Line 6 DL4 Delay/Looper pedal

    - by far the best looper pedal in my opinion.

Excellent mono and stereo delay pedal too. Only selling because I have 2 and I've just bought an Eventide Time Factor...

Immaculate condition with box, instructions and power supply. The PSU is an optional extra if you buy it new and I think they cost around £20...

    £140 delivered.
