  1. I love the look of the PSA. 1.1 but this in pedal format is killer. I have the fly rig and it's really small but well laid out and the knobs (and switches)  are surprisingly robustAs said before, small adjustments with these knobs go a long way.  Can't wait for this.

the covering they use does mark easily. It hasn’t been driven hard. I’ve used the 210 for pit band work last couple of years.

Cracking cabs these and a great price. They do mark easily but black Kiwi shoe polish can be used to restore them to 'as new' condition. Try it!

  3. I feel sorry for H. He's been in the band for 30 odd years (Fish was only in it for 10!) and people still call him the new guy.

If you want to hear more old Marillion you are better off seeing Fish, who is touring again also (for the last time before retiring).

I love both 'versions' but I think you have to see them as two slightly different bands. H singing Fish songs just dont sound right to me. Steve Hogarths lyrics are better in many respects than Fish's ever were and musically the band are wonderful to hear.

Ps does he still do the white gloves thing?

Replacing the Elite range with an Ultra range is what I hear.... minor tweaks and a couple of new colours I'd imagine, to justify a 20% price hike.....

Tada.  Compound radius fingerboards are really nice but they did that on the Dimension bass but left off the asymmetric neck profile.

    Wondered if this is possible......

I would like to assign a single footswitch for pitch shift, I need to drop either a semi tone or a whole tone (Eb or D) for some songs. Ideally I’d like to cycle through 3 options on a single switch, ie OFF, -1, -2, OFF etc.

I can do it with two switches, either two separate pitch shift blocks on separate switches with the interval set to -1 and -2, or a single pitch shift on one then assign a different foot switch to toggle the interval with max/min values of -1,-2.

Is this possible using just one switch? Thought I’d read you can toggle multiple effects on a single switch, but so far I can’t see how.

I'm thinking you could assign the pitch interval parameter to the expression pedal? Switch on the pitch shift and then adjust to suit?

For example, I have a BDDI set to on, with little drive, and another block with the same BDDI but a much higher drive (and slightly lower level). I have both set to one foot switch. The patch is saved with the low drive on and the high drive off. Using just one foot switch alternates between the two. Pretty cool feature.

You can make it even simpler using snapshots Dave. You only need to use one block and you can use the snapshot function to toggle different parameters of that block, so in your example you'd have a snapshot of your block, just with different gain and level settings.  It saves DSP by not having to replicate a block.

I did try a Downtown Express and was underwhelmed. It was pretty low gain too, as someone mentioned.

I ended up getting a GK Plex, which is one hell of a unit. Absolutely perfect for what I need.

Cheers for all the opinions and recommendations!

Good call. The Downtown Express is marketed as a multi effects rather than a preamp, but the Plex looks really good, I've fancied one too. Let us know how you get on.

  8. I took my ABM600 to my tech, who spoke direct with Ashdown and had some minor problems fixed in a matter of moments.  He's worked for some big name amp companies before and said the Ashdown guys were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable.

  9. Given that you're using a Focusrite interface it's worth reading this article.

    https://support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/210708269-What-impedance-headphones-should-I-use-with-my-audio-interface-

I have two pairs - Audio Technica MX50x (closed back) 39 ohm and a set of AKG 702 open back 62 ohm..  The open back ones don't provide silent practice by their nature but they do give a more natural sound . I use them for mixing and for assessing the sound of live patches on interfaces such as my helix.  For practising I use the MX50xs as they have a more rounded sound. I don't use these for mixing or balancing live sound as they aren't as representative.

I think probably a bit of overkill for what I'm after, but cheers anyway!

Oh I dunno, the chorus is handy, as is the tuner, the octafilter you can ignore and then you have comp and eq section. it's very small too!!

Check out the TC Spark Boost currently being sold for a discounted £39 at guitar guitar

Provides up to 26dB of clean boost and is also popular with several other BC'ers (I don't have one, so I can't vouch) for warming up their tone / providing a valvey dirt.

Ooh that sounds like a great idea, I'll check it out, cheers!

Which powered speaker is it? Which preamp output (the jack, or the XLR), and which powered speaker input (mic level, line level, or other)?

I've used Zoom and EBS preamps (with the 1/4" amp output, not the XLR DI) into an RCF's mic-level input and no problems with volume

XLR out normally to XLR in of a Barefaced FR800. The cab has no external volume control!
