  1. I only like Rush from Moving Pictures in 81, to Roll the Bones in 91, the era where they became a lot more accessible. Can't stand the older stuff or the later stuff, so if you've heard that, I get where you're coming from.

However, I can't agree RE Geddy. The man is one of the greatest to ever do it, I think he plays with an impeccable sense of rhythm and a tonne of groove, all the while absolutely hammering the living daylights out of his Bass. Imo, He kind of has to play that way in a trio - he's like JPJ on steroids, or Jaco for those of us who hate Jazz!

  2. A Modulus Flea with the following ;

    Painted in hot pink sparkle

    Pink neck LEDs

    Chambered body for light weight

    Wal Pickups, electronics and preamp

Bell brass frets (stolen from Warwick)

A brass JAN (also nicked from Warwick)

  3. Hi all!

Here we have my very recently acquired 2002 Musicman Stingray in a not oft seen 'Translucent Purple' finish. Allegedly only 50 made in this colour.

Maple Neck. Ash body. 3-band electronics. Just strung up with DR Pure Blues.

Really disappointed to be selling this as it looks fabulous, sounds even better and is in excellent condition (bar a scratch which the previous owner put on the back, from allegedly trying to open the battery compartment with a screwdriver 😳. However, it was advertised as being 3.5kg in weight and when I got it home, it's 4.6kg (to be fair, a ballpark figure for most of them, pre-specials) - having a severely damaged shoulder, this was not good news. I thought I'd try it out at practice last night just to see, but after an hour my shoulder just flat out gave up - so it has to go, sadly.

All in perfect working order with the Musicman hardcase (also in super condition). Also comes with a mirror scratch plate if that's your bag.

Located in Moreton in Marsh on the Gloucestershire/Warwickshire/Oxfordshire border. *Will not post* however, as previous deals will attest to, I'm happy to drive more or less anywhere for a handover, as long as you're not at the extremities of the country.

It owes me £1100, so this is what I have it up for.

    Would consider trades for one of the following (and they HAVE to be sub 4kg examples and in good condition) ;

Warwick Thumb BO4 and cash my way

    Warwick Streamer LX5

Warwick Corvette 4/5 + cash my way.

    Thank you for looking!

  4. Sold Bill my Ibanez EHB.

Thoroughly top bloke - very easy to deal with - a gentleman personified. Affable, friendly (even after I made him wait an extra 30 mins or so due to an unforeseen pitstop en-route).

Cheers Bill - Hope you enjoy!

I've mentioned this one before in a similar thread, but the Behringer BX4500H deserves another nomination.

I gigged mine again on Thursday and was reminded just how solid it is.

Incredibly flexible, every tonal configuration imaginable, loud and clear.

I've been underwhelmed by other Behringer heads, but not by this one. It's easily one of my all time favourites.

I used one of these in a rehearsal room a few times, and honestly, I agree. It was a very, very good sounding head. With lots of clean headroom and quite a clear bottom end (oo-er!).

  6. I recently purchased some DR Fatbeams from Amazon (through DR's Amazon store) and also dispatched by Amazon, so the real thing.

Opened the set up today 2-3 weeks later, and not only was the A-String completely and utterly dead (to the point it didn't even sound like a bass string at all) but they packaged two G strings instead of a D (so, E-A-G-G).

Absolutely woeful QC - I've never had a bad string in 20 years until today! When it rains, it pours!

Agreed on the aeroplane video being best advertising ever. That's the ray tone in a bottle.

Rather weirdly, the Ray is only used for the slapping parts/verses. All the fingerstyle sections of that song are an Alembic Epic (including the solo). He used both basses to record that track!

"Final price drop" is my favourite.

I wonder if those ad's are placed to satisfy 'er/'im indoors who is complaining about the place being cluttered up with gear. "I'm trying to sell it, honest, but nobody's interested. Must be due to the recession", etc.

This. I've tried to buy 2 basses this year where the seller just wasn't bothered about actually selling the bass. My reasoning was these ads must exist to placate the other half.

Not sure if he is a member here but James Maxted is a cool guy to watch for covers and reviews

Ed Friedland - Bass Whisperer TV same sort of thing.

Tony Senatore's Classic Bass Tracks - covers you don't see often.

Ato71 - wide range of covers

Alfon Lopez - wide range of covers

My favourite non bass Youtube channel - Mark Felton Productions for those among us who are into military history.

Mark Felton's channel is one of my absolute favourites!
