1. Which wizard model would be best suited to the music styles? 84's or 64's? I'm guessing I dont want anything too hot.
2. Hello fellow BC'ers. I am looking to upgrade the pickups on my 09 HW1 Jazz bass. I am after some advice on what ones to go for. I want to keep it passive, and I play mostly Jazz, Funk, Blues and Motown. What pickups should I consider, and how much of a job will be it for me to fit them myself? Regards, JM
3. Hi There, I have for sale an as new condition Squier Classic Vibe 50's Strat. I have had it since xmas, but have played it around 6-8 times only. (Prefer my basses). Specs etc. It's the same as in the above link, sunburst finish etc. and will also include a ritter gigbag to offer a little bit of protection. I do however have the original box that it was shipped in which is in perfect condition. I would prefer a pickup or local delivery (done by myself), Im based near bournemouth on the southcoast and willing to deliver out to a 35mile radius of here for 10 quid on top of the guitar cost. I dont really like couriers but if you do wish to arrange one the item will be packed to a high standard. I am looking for £160 for this little beauty, the quality really is top notch for a squier as is to be expected from the classic vibe series. I am also looking to sell a Vox VT30 Combo, It has a single valve in the pre-amp and a whole host of built in modelling and effects. It was purchased the same time as the Strat and as such is in excellent as new condition including all original packaging, Manual and Kettle lead. It is a great little amp which features a built in attentuator so you can drive the pre-amp without annoying the neighbours and has a whole bunch of "famous" pre-sets that are pre-programmed in. Same rules apply for delivery or collection, although it is worth noting that the shop box is quite thin and not really suitable for shipping purposes. These retail at £150 everywhere, as such I am looking for £75 for mine. Thanks for reading!
4. Do these good write-ups of the SR300 extend to the 305 as well? I'm looking for a 5 string for a max of 300quid to satisfy my metal urges.
5. Took a leap and ordered one from online, same place I have purchased another guitar from and had no problems. Unfortunately no such luck this time. The list of horrors... Box was open as well as dented and torn on the side. NO protection whatsoever inside apart from a small cardboard headstock sleeve. Split in the body which had been lacquered over when it was finished. Black "binding" turned my hands black. Overflowed onto the fretboard and a large dot next to one of the fret markers. Flat spots on the neck, rough feeling fret edges. A flat spot on the top of the headstock from what looks like an impact. 1st Fret marking scraped down to the wood. Brown speckles on the headstock wood, Could be damp/water marks. Only 2 screws on the scratchplate are screwed in square. Awaiting a replacement now, Fingers x'ed this next one is better as i really like the look and the sound from the brief testing I was able to do. Cheers, JM
6. Yeah, muchos thanks to all of you for your input. Everyone has been really helpful. I think I am going to plump for the Jazz. Payday in 2hrs then the shopping can begin Going to try and pick up the Bass, Case, set of Strings and the knobs + bridge this month. Also if I may ask another question, albeit in the wrong forum section, What do people recommend for a practice amp? Cheers, JM.
7. What upgrades would you recommend to the VM Jazz? JM
8. Hi there, Just looking for some advice regarding which model would be better suited to me, I have played and like the feel of both. I have a very broad interest in music so looking for whatever I choose to be able to do 60's and 70's funk/soul/classic rock right upto modern rock and a bit of metal. I will be doing upgrades (Bridge/tuners etc) to whatever I purchase as It will be my main bass for the forseeable future. Is the tone from the VM Jazz versatile enough to cover all of these or am I better off going for a P? Cheers All, JM
