  1. Hi all, some help with the behringer x32 producer desk please! I’m no sound engineer so bear with me here. 
     

    Our singer has splashed out on one of these desks for our 8 piece band as he’s desperate to use in-ears. However he’s left it to me to learn how to do it. I’ve managed to set up linked sends for stereo in ear mixes, and can get FX to the front of house. I can do dry monitor mixes on the various sends but…..

    When I send reverb to the monitors it gets applied to all the instruments in that mix. I’d like to be able to send reverb on the vocals only without adding it to the drums and keys for example. Any YouTube videos I’ve watched on the matter either seem to be wrong (checking the comments) or like trying to fly the starship enterprise. 
     

    Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thank you

  2. It’s a funny thing. What’s your experience like? Our guitarist owns a Marshall jtm45 used on Aqualung, an ac30 used on What’s the Story Morning Glory and a little fender champ previously owned by Coldplay. He likes vintage valve amps. Doesn’t make them better but there is something extraordinary (in the true sense of the word)compared to his run of the mill 50s teles, which are old yes but haven’t participated in the shared history of commercial music to the same degree. It’s the same with studios, some sound amazing, but some make amazing records and going to them has an ambience that is  special. It doesn’t necessarily equate and it that what makes this music lark more fun.

    I was there for that, 13 years old. Brain off, steak and chips music, it was great.

    Couldn’t agree more, a bunch of top class musicians making music off the leash of genres and playlists, produced by one very clever and creative producer.

    I played a gig with Bobby Crush once, complete plonker. Still did the hand thing, spent the whole day complaining at the drummer, didn’t speak to me at all. On the gig he introduced his band- ‘Tim on drums and (mumble mumble mumble) on bass’

  6. Loudest gig I’ve been at- The Black Crowes, Wolverhampton Civic, 95. Guitars had 3 matchless stacks each. 
    Loudest gig I’ve been involved with? I was involved in this world record attempt, the most people playing the same tune for as long as possible. I was 13, it was at Hereford leisure centre and every guitarist crawled out from under their rock with their boogie 22s, Marshalls etc, rolled everything to the right and went for it for 45 minutes. Horrible experience.

  7. It’s the same situation in my function band. It’s a compromise- I have a five string but most gigs it’s a P bass with an octave pedal, MXR octave. I’d rather have the bass I prefer playing for 90% of the tunes, keep the momentum between songs without having to ponce around changing basses and it’s a cliche - the audience will not give a flying monkeys.
