  2. I’m trying to get more bass uptake both at the school where I teach and the church where I worship. One obvious initial obstacle is getting a little setup which bass beginners / guitar-playing dabblers can afford while they figure out if they want to get serious.

So recommend me a little setup!

I think we’ll need a bass, a small amp, and a cable. If they can be ordered in one go from a retailer (or purchased locally) then all the better. Links and prices appreciated!

I'm thinking that my current idea - to put a medium scale neck onto a fullsize body - is going to be difficult unless I get a specific conversion neck to fit 61mm neck pocket. Thanks for the suggestions though!

Yeah, probably going to be all sorts of proportion issues too.

  4. The issue here is that Eurosender are recommended as a sort of partner by this site, so it doesn’t inspire confidence if they are reliably unreliable.

FWIW, I have used them once to send a Sadowsky to the Netherlands for a trade, and it was a successful delivery.

Anyone know where I might get a fender style medium scale neck? Seem rare as hens teeth!

If you aren’t fussy about it being Fender style then I have a 2+2 medium scale neck I’m think of offloading.

If you are, I have a Gypsy Rose 32” P/J project that I’m also thinking of offloading.

Have you done anything with the pickups? I'm liking the P but when I'm recording the J is a noisy thing.

I'm trying to find a noiseless J that I can drop into it without any routing but I'm not having much luck so far.

    Any ideas?

Not yet - I’ve taken it out once for church, and found that:

    1. I’d forgotten to intonate it. D’oh!

    2. There was a grounding hum only resolvable by touching one of the knobs.

The first was easy to fix, the second I think requires me to sand part of the finish off the bridge so it can contact properly with the grounding wire. Haven’t gotten around to that yet.

I reckon I will be upgrading one or both pickups and also the preamp. Will probably put in the Glockenklang that came with my Sadowsky NYC, and as for the pickups I’ll wait for something suitable to come along secondhand.
