  1. Amp is in excellent condition and first class working and is very loud. Very well cared for.

IMO there’s always been a tossup between the AH250 MKV and the SMX250/300. This model wins as it has the valve blend and is lighter.

    Head Specs:
280w RMS/580w peak fan cooled head (the fan is not silent but cannot be heard above anything else - I must state this because there are some funny bugxxxx about - to me it’s fine) Has active passive input selector, tube/solid state blending, pre-shape and 2 shaping options, 12 band graphic EQ with controlable level, independent Low and high compressesors, Effects level and send level with full range and high pass options, DI out built in, can power two 8 ohm cabs. Made in England around 1998 - the Trace golden era.

Welcome to trial/test here in Coseley West Mids - you won’t be disappointed.

  2. Nice condition including the flight case. I have been transporting it around in a trolley case (as pictured) - carrying it with handle of course, but Im keeping the trolley for a holiday trip.
400W @ 4 ohm. Great rich sound. Tube preamp section. Made in Montrose USA. Can use without speakers with earphones for home practise.
I’ve attached a link showing reviews.

Prefer to collect/test/enjoy here in Coseley West Midlands but can ship at buyers expense, either of us making the arrangements.

  3. Never pushed because I’ve never had the amp to fulfil its hunger.  I won’t push how good it is.

Prefer to try/test/enjoy here in Coseley, West Midlands. Can post/ship at buyers expense, arrangements made by me or you.

I’ve taken the following info from the web:

This is a redesigned version of the classic HT112 with a slightly larger cabinet to help fill out the low end. It retains the clean/smooth detailed highs, from the acclaimed HT tweeter and cross-over, plus tight, smooth mids and plenty of low end that defies it's size. Add an EX112ER or another HT112ER for an amazing full size sounding rig that will fit in the boot of a small car and handle up to 1000W. This is THE classic bass cab! One of the deepest sounding 12" cabinets available today.

    specifications:

    1. 1 x 12" cast frame woofer w/ 80oz. magnet, vented pole piece

    2. high intelligibility 1" tweeter

    3. power handling - 350 watts rms

    4. custom phase - coherent crossover with tweeter level control

    5. frequency response: 40hz - 18khz

    6. sensitivity: 98.5db • anechoic: 2.83v/1m

    7. 2 x 1/4" and 2 x neutrik connectors

    8. impedance: 8 ohms

    9. dimensions: 15 3/4"H x 18-1/2"W x 15"D

    10. 40cm x 47cm x 38cm

    11. weight: 39lbs/17.7Kgs

    12. Padded/fitted cover £60

  4. Excellent condition and working order. With deluxe case and tags. I think the colour is candy apple red and looks great under spots.
You can dial in a classic P bass tone and with the active electronics, anything from pure treble all the way to the most low ended floor shaking tone possible. The neck seems a bit quicker as well.

  5. I’ve been a member on Basschat for quite a few years now and since I discovered the site I’ve been chopping and changing continuously, at times I’d wished I hadn’t found it! - but it’s a great site.
Unfortunately at the age of 69 it’s getting closer to packing it in. I’m still out once every week. I feel I missed some time watching my kids growing up with so many gigs and private functions with 3pm to bed, I don’t want it to happen so much with my grandkids.

Anyway, experience has concluded MY ultimate gear:
    1971 Precision
    1998-9 Fender USA deluxe Precision.
Eden 400 and Trace SMX300 heads.
I’ve owned the AH250 many times but it’s just the blxxdy weight.

    Cabs:
For many years Trace compact 1x15 and 2x10, easy to drive with various Trace heads BUT, they did catch the paintwork on the wheel arch of the car when loading, so I later went for a pair of Bergantino 12’s with horn/without, which easily plonked onto the back seat.
Disadvantage is that the Bergs need a lot of power to drive. The Trace SMX300 wasn’t quite enough hence a trial of class D amps, 500W and above. I went through most class D stuff persuaded by the hype and tripe - never again unless I’m in church.

I’ve tried neo’s Markbass cabs, Celestion neo loaded cabs etc etc but na, ideal for bloating double bass but electric bass na, can’t get em to rock.

The Bergs use 350W Eminence speakers (80oz magnets), very nice solid full sound but too creamy for my liking, I like raunchy Celestion. IMO I think the USA stuff is fat, sort of pretty sounding but the Celestions seem more aggressive and give me a better feel with  drive. (I maybe mistaken but I recall Hammond organs were made in America and a few made in the UK and that the American Hammonds had a creamier Sound than the UK ones which were more aggressive sounding. Whether it was the EL34’s in the revolving Leslie speaker amp or Marshall 4x12s I can’t remember).

Bit late in the day now but I’ve ended up with the best of both worlds and it works great. The creamy Berg HT112ER on top of a small Trace combo with the head cut off with a raunchy Celestion 300w 15 inside. Either of my two amps can drive this now. The cabs are roughly the same size. Very powerful and shoves onto the back seat without touching the car doorway.

picture of my setup to follow

  6. All original with exception of one control knob which is a vintage part. The condition is sound but it has small dinks and donks all over the place because you're forever picking it up - and it gets played! Remember, an OLD mint guitar is generally a poor player and is put back under the bed.
Part of the famed "JV" (Japanese Vintage) series of instruments produced from 1982-83 by the then newly formed Fender Japan, this Jazz Bass boasts the same USA-made pickups that were also used in the Fullerton factory Fender reissues. A bass that will satisfy collectors and serious players alike.
Hasn’t been messed about with in any way. I’ve only needed to turn the truss rod just a tadge giving it a great action. If anyone wants me to take off the neck I reluctantly would for the pencil date on the neck heel but I can guarantee it’s going to be between Dec 82 and Jan 83. http://www.21frets.com/jvreg/JV_Registry.htm
Slender 1 1/2" nut width. Thick slab rosewood fretboard with original slender vintage-style frets which are still in good shape. The bass plays cleanly. Has the original reverse geared chrome tuning machines.
There’s a strong fundamental attack and acoustic resonance to this bass, and it's an instrument capable of great versatility, great feel, great warm balanced tone across the strings throughout.
Weighing in at 4.1kg , 0.1kg above all JV PRECISIONS I have owned. New set of 45-105 Roto strings fitted.

Welcome to try out here in Bilston West Mids before you buy - you wouldn't be disappointed - it wants to play itself
Good thick quality soft carry case included - you won’t scratch your car.

  7. Just received a Trace SMX300 head from Dave.

    Excellent comms.

    Sent next day delivery

Great packaging...as good as mine and I’m very thorough 😉

    All working great.

    Buy from Dave with confidence

    Thanks Dave

  8. Sunburst, all original. Small dink in the neck, bit rough around the side-bottom, slight scuffs obviously on the back, generally very nice. Truss rod fine but the new owner may want a pro set up. Reverse tuners.
    The last from my collection.
Welcome to try here in WV149PU West Midlands before to buy.
