Well, I have a genuine 4004 ric with 5 string and its neck seems fine with the strings on it, I just used lighter than normal ones, 40-125 and it seems happy.

Remember, I'll have that 4004 back if you ever decide to sell. It's one of those big regrets having had to to sell it :(

  2. Made in early 2000's in Korea.

I converted it to a 5 string but the extra hole could be plugged (or left open to add to that 'rat' look)

Has studs instead of wooden screw holes (bolts included)

Will fit the Explorer body I also have listed.

If you want to keep it as a 5 stringer I have a 5 string bridge that fits this string spacing perfectly. Let me know if interested.

  3. I don't know who originally made it but I've had it a couple of years and added a Thunderbird neck. It's had a Rickenbacker 5 string pickup, so will need re-routing for another shape.

Has a KiOgan wiring loom and the cavities have copper conductive tape.

Paint job - not good - Halfords finest put on too quickly and not sanded down. Top is finished with a vinyl wrap (which doesn't hide the paint inconsistencies underneath).

Great if you want that 'Rat' look.

  4. I bought this from McNach a few days ago for a bass where I thought the preamp was knackered. Turned out it was just a bad solder, so I don't now need this.

This is the 4-knob version, with black knobs.

It's designed for 2-pickup basses. The output of each pickup can be adjusted with two internal trim pots, ensuring perfect balance. Semiparametric mids, passive tone control, active/passive switch, bass EQ frequency window is user-adjustable (low bass 20-80Hz, high bass 40-200Hz), flat or pre-shape (slight mid scoop with boosted low/highs) options...

    Check full specs here:

    https://www.east-uk.com/product/uni-pre-4-knob/?v=7885444af42e

It costs new £220. Selling for £150 which is what I paid for it.

This has never been installed. I only took it out of the box to take measurements.

  5. I would also simplify what you are playing. Unless it's a prog-jazz piece of music, stick to root notes / 5th's as much as possible. No need to make life more complicated than it already is/will be. And also, not to diminish your playing, but the audience wont be listening to what you are playing. If it's a cover they'll be listening to that in their head anyway and remembering your brother and thinking how wonderful you are for doing this in the first place.

  6. If you want fuzz this will give it to you in spades.

A few marks and some velcro on the back but otherwise it's in good condition.

I'm having a clearout at the moment as I haven't been in a band for a few years now, otherwise I'd be keeping it.

I'm afraid I can't find the box but it will be packed well when posted.

  7. I’ve just bought this back after having sold it a couple of years ago, but my wife’s car needs money spending on it to get it through its MOT so it has to go  to pay for the repairs.

Body: chambered alder with flamed maple top and back
Neck: 21-fret (plus zero fret) hard rock flamed maple with rosewood fingerboard, blocks, and vintage white binding
    Scale length: 34"
Headstock: originally matching, it was subsequently refinished by JP Guitars, Bristol.
    Nut width: 45mm
    Tuners: Hipshot USA Ultralites
Pickups: Delano PC 5 AL/M2 (neck) and JC 5 AL (bridge)
Controls: Volume, volume, tone; push-pull on the tone for both pickups in series.
Bridge: Gotoh 205B-5, 18m spacing (it was originally a Hipshot when I had it).
Weight: 3.585kg, and perfectly balanced - a real pleasure to play.

    Strings: LaBella flats

    Fender hardcase

Some info from the previous owner that I would not have noticed or known about if it wasn't pointed out -> It also arrived with stripped neck screws; these have been replaced.  Truss rod works correctly in both directions.  N.B. Maruszczyk truss rods are clockwise to loosen and anti-clockwise to tighten (i.e. against convention).
There are a couple of small marks on the body, one of which has been painted over (see photos).

  8. It says it's an EastCoast but it is identical in every way to the Stagg version, so I assume they were made in the same factory at the same time.

Very good condition. Comes with arm rest, stand, case, bow and roisin.

Since injuring my hand earlier this year it's too difficult for me to play now, so I'm hoping someone else can make use of it.

    Type: Electric upright double bass

    Size: 3/4

    Top: Solid maple

    Neck: Solid maple

    Bridge: Ebonized hardwood

    Nut: Plastic, black

Machine heads: P-bass style, diecast, nickel

    Electronics:

    Volume and bass control

    Low battery indicator

3.5 mm (1/8") stereo mini jack input for phone or MP3 player

3.5 mm (1/8") mini jack output for headphones

  9. Squier Vintage Modified 5 string Precision - made in Indonesia.

New flats and recently set up.
    Fender logo’d gig bag

Only selling as I injured two of my fingers in a saw, and I need to sell all my stuff to pay the bills whilst they repair.
I’ve always tried to avoid Fender shaped basses (I like to be different :)but I really do like this bass. It just feels and sounds ‘right’.

  10. I've had this up for sale before but couldn't bring myself to sell it, but I've just introduced 2 of my fingers to an electric circular saw so am unable to work for several weeks (and being self employed, means the bills have got to be paid by selling my gear).

It's got a Schaller 3d 5 string bridge and a hipshot ultralight extra tuner. I've also changed the position of the strap button so it hangs better. It has a Gibson hard case and the original bridge if wanted.

  11. Identical to the Stagg EUB. I'm afraid I don't have the screw in 'brackets' on the side. Comes with fur lined carry case (and a stand, if required). I've just exchanged this with someone for the 5 string conversion one I had as I thought this might be easier to sell.

The reason for selling - I've never got round to playing it live and I've just introduced 2 of my fingers to an electric circular saw, and being self employed and now not able to work for a few weeks, everything has to go to pay the bills.

Sounds good - so the neck has no problems having an extra big string i guess? I see a few people on the net have it done

Yup, it's a 'common' thing to do (plus I think Rick themselves did something very similar back in the day ie. just added the tuner.

I don't think a complete refinish is necessary for a tuner hole though. The bridge is in the same place and someone who knew what they were doing could match in the tuner hole quite easily if you wanted showroom condition.

That looks amazing, and the spacing sounds great too, but a bit tricky to know without trying it. I am guessing the 4004s don't sound much like the 4003s etc? I have not actually ever tried one (in fact I am not sure if i have ever seen one in real life)

It's been so long since I had a 4003 that I don't remember the difference in sound. I think Bass Bross has a 4004 in at the moment. I understand that the 4004L (this one) is a little brighter than the 4004C (but don't quote me on that). What I can say is that they are far, far more comfortable to play than the 'traditional' 4001/3.
