  1. ***NOW SOLD*** Fantastic unique Squier VM fretless jazz with upgrades. Refinished in Graffiti Yellow, fitted with replica tort plate and genuine Fender bridge and pickup covers. Body in mint condition apart from a few minor surafce marks to bottom and side edges and one small ding on the rear top contour as shown, otherwise like new. Replaced stock neck with Mexican Fender pau ferro, mint condition and lemon oiled for a lovely finish. Previously fitted with an active preamp and still has side mounted jack if wanted to upgrade. Strung with Picato flats, nice and worn in.

Prefer local collection (somehow) as out of boxes to send (at buyer's cost). Cheers!

Had this been 4 strings I’d have been on it. Did you swap the neck? To my knowledge they never made these available in natural with a rosewood neck (annoyingly). I did think about going down the route of buying two and swapping the necks over.

I did indeed mate. I've also got the white blonde that came with this neck but prefer maple so switched them up.

  5. Passive MM3 in natural/maple in good condition. OLP manufactured these licensed from Ernie Ball MM. Great Stingray banger with a good range of tones available, does the Stingray sound surprisingly well and nails it completely with the addition of an active preamp as many have done before. Prefer collection, will consider shipping at buyer's expense.

  6. Second of my USA Deluxes to go. One of Fender's best 5 string jazzes, now discontinued. Absolute quality build and finish. This bass has been played - by me, original owner - and has a few knocks and dings to show for it as pictured. There's a small nick in the tip of the headstock (damn those venues with low ceilings) and the finish has come away in a small spot on the back of the guitar exposing the wood. Nothing to affect structure or playability though and gives it a bit of the old roadworn in a couple of places.

Amazing range of tones available from the N3 pickups and 18V preamp which is active/passive switchable. The neck plays wonderfully with rolled edges, B string is tight and action can go nice and low. Comes with original Fender ABS case + case candy.

Prefer collection in person but will consider shipping at buyer's expense.

My band is supporting Pete Best's band in August at the 60th anniversary of the Casbah Club. Looking forward to meeting him, he is supposed to be a lovely guy. I'm not a Beatles fan in any way but looking forward to it.

    Sounds great 😀

As this has been resurrected, I might as well say I actually quite like the Beatles now despite still having most of the same problems with em I had initially, especially Ringo's drumming.

  11. Seen them twice over here and was a bit disappointed to be honest. The band was hot (hehe) of course, but the whole thing was on half speed and it's painful watching Don stretch his neck to reach for notes he can't get anywhere near these days. I'll save the ticket money and put it towards Nearly Dan next month, sound better than the real thing nowadays, great show.

Don't suppose you'd care to share the patch settings you used to achieve this would you?

    Freq 3
    Range 7
    Reso 7

I've got the tone just a tad back from wide open on my Jazz in passive mode, pickup blend at 50/50 and plucking over the neck pickup for fatness. Doing my best to isolate each note with judicious muting. Hope that helps.

  13. The humble Zoom B3 can yield a few surprisingly decent 80s synth sounds if you mess around with it I've found. This is a patch I use for Whitney's I Wanna Dance With Somebody and anything else that sounds DX7-esque...

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/n1topj3b3m42yw3/I Wanna Dance...B3 bass.mp3?dl=0

It's not the greatest for quick-ish runs as the demo shows towards the end, but the tracking is fine for the most part if you watch your technique and keep your lines steady. That patch could probably use a little octave but I'm maxed out at three slots on the B3...time to look at an MS-60B I think!

  14. Entry level stuff at Cardiff PMT?? They've had Fender Elites and Professionals not to mention Stingray 5s and a fair few decent Ibbys in there since day one. Did you just stick with the one wall there?? They'll order you anything in to try as well, so if like your Dream Theatre, ask em to get a Bongo in perhaps.

Also, if you like your Dean but the sound's crap, I'm thinking upgrade the electronics before you splash serious cash on another bass.

You seem to be painting yourself into a corner of your own making here!
