1.
Sorry if this sounds silly, do you mean that the the fuse is inside the lead or did i misunderstood the english?
Fuse inside the plug (as I understood it :) ). I think normally they are T5A, or 13A does the trick. Best to check the manual though, just to protect the fuses in the amp. Saying that, I used a 13A fuse on the kettle to my old ampeg for years even though a 5 was specified.

EDIT: of course I just realised you're from portugal.... not sure if you're residing there at poresent, which may well change everything!! :)

  2. I think there were a few reliability issues on their release, hence the mark 2 release. Theyve been getting some love on talkbass. Im looking at picking up the mb500 as a back up/ slve for my shuttle. Great bang for the buck new IMO and ove always enjoyed gk. Not sure why the lack of popularity though. Bit weird! I guess other brands market a bit better perhaps, pus they have market share at the moment.

  3.
Heh, I misread this initially as having meaning synonymous to "no amp is powerful enough to blow woofers or mid-bass drivers". Which is clearly nonsense, but that second comma does introduce a certain ambiguity.

    S.P.
+1, I had a double take on that! :)

Nice piece though. Probably the most informative manufacturer website out there. I feel like I actually learn something every time I read it! :)

Hope the ankle recovers soon Alex.

  4.
For the looper and delay take a look at the EHX Memory Man w/Hazarai, does pretty much everything you're asking. The Akai Headrush is a good shout too. If you wanna go crazy and have the money, check out a Line 6 M9 or M13. Its a multi fx unit and the looper on it is excellent.
+1 to this. The main differences are the memory man is a delay with lopper added, the headrush a looper with delay added. I went through simiar as you a while back and setted on the ehx as i preferred the delay options. You could also of course get a seperate looper and delay which would open up a lot of options as well.

I think a multieffect could be worth it though. Sounds like youve started down the dark side and you wont stop after just a looper and delay! If you are thinking about others though i wouldnt dissmiss them. The m9 is a hell of a pedal and comes up round here at a fair price every so often. Good bang for your buck.

Best advice is try em and see what you think and what suits. Good luck and enjoy the journey!

  5.
Different shape, basically, optimised for solid state amps (as this was how people used it) rather than valve ones. I'd guess basically, deeper narrower box.
Ah, ok. thanks :) ......does that differ from 2 compacts then? I understood the vintage ended up being voiced the same as two compacts, which led to its halt in production (together with sales demand).

  6. I've been looking at both of these as a back up/slave off of my shuttle 9.....they dont have an effects loop though, is there any problem running the Effects out from the genz into the front end of either of these? :) Sorry a bit off topic........ might pull the trigger after xmas if the solution's feasible..... :)

    cheers guys

  7. Nice! What type of band are you in? Number, stye, loudness etc. Were putting out through the pa aswell? That genz makes the midget look big! :)
Took this combo for a pub gig tonight.
I was very afraid that 300 watts was not enough.

    However, it did very well.
Guitards happy that the bass didn't sucked al their lows up in the mix.
Soundengineer happy that he was able to make a nice FOH-mix.
I was very happy: great sound and combined 15 kg!
8.
The bigger brother of SS's rig - WT550 into a Vintage. Oooh yeah :)
I always get a little gas thump me in the chest when i see a vintage, and not because ive eaten something dodgey!

  9.
The Super Twelve T - with Eden WT550 and the Boss GT-10B. That's my rig really.
Absolute cracker! Never had the pleasure of trying eden, although heard a lot of good things.

  10. That is magnificent!! :) im going to get a valve amp one day. 400+ is high on the list, s would another compact i think!

Any word on the big one pics?? :)
Here's my 2 Compacts with the Mesa Boogie Bass 400+. This rig is just something else! (sorry for the crap pic BTW)
11. My greatest fault is that I work too hard. I'm sorry. A project getting screwed up?? I'm afraid I've never experienced that on anything I've project managed.

    :)
My favourite interview questions...

"What do you think is your greatest fault"

"Tell me about your role in a project that got screwed up" :-)
12. Hello! I have a compact and midget - just posted a bit of a review on the barefaced affiiates page trying to get a show your rig thread going.

I love mine, but i guess negatives could be you dont like the finish compared to other manufacturers. Its a bit home made in some ways (personally this is something i love), the outer coating isnt liked by everyone.

IT IS THAT LIGHT! amazing! And so loud for its size and weight, and i love the ton i get from it!

Limiations are if you turn up too loud your house might collapse.

Id recommend one any day, and alex does a one month trial. Drop him a line and tell him what your goals are. Great customer serice!
I am very seriously thinking of buying this cab.

    1. any possible negatives?

    2. 26 pounds seems very light. I have known some cab makers to be less than honest on their weight ratings. Is it really 26LBS

    3. what are its limitations?

    thanks!
13. Morning all!

Feeling pretty good this morning, contrary to yesterdays antics. Thought I'd post my experience with a few less typos and a pic or two! Not sure if this is really the right area for posting this sort of thing or not, but I'll do it anyway. Also, as I wrote below, itd be good to get a barefaced pictures thread going here - what do you run them with, what style of music. I dont think theres one going at the moment? Correct me if I'm wrong!!

As mentioned in an earlier post, I've owned a compact for a while, and taken it out to a couple of rehearsals, and gigged once. I added the midget to the setup not because I really needed to, but because I could, and I wanted to get the full 900w out of the shuttle. I also thought it would mean with or without PA support, I'd be covered.

My full set up is as listed in my sig below, and heres a home picture:

My band had the first weekend rehearsal in about 8 months yesterday, so it was a great opportunity to take the rig out and see how it performed both in terms of transport and performance.

First off, I was on my own going to the studio. I use public transport - a train to Waterloo and its a short walk either end of things. I did have the assistance of a decent trolley and some ratchet ties, but I was still nervous about loading and unloading. This rig is ridiculously light!! and I mean ridiculous. Obviously the specs tell you everything you need to know in this area, but its still pretty unbelievable when I pulled the trolley, bass, amp and effects board down the road with ease (I am a rather unfit late twenty something (30) fella, average build), and I mean ease. Loading the two cabs on to the train (a 2ft lift and small gap to watch) was accomplished with one hand, and my right foot. Again I found this really, really easy! I woned an ashdown mag 115 deep previously, and I'm adamant that these two cabs together are lighter and far more managable than that ever was! At the other end of the station, a similar fashioned demount and off to the pub for an hour before getting into rehearsing. So its light!

Setting the rig up in the rehearsal room left me feeling a bit weird. Reasonably large room, and they had provided a peavey head, trace 115 and ampeg 115 for the bass player. I set mine up a little way from it and it looked tiny. Like a rig for hobbits, or the borrowers. I did have a little smirk on my face though, as I knew what both were capable of.

So I fired things up, drummer got going, and the guitarist was wasted (running a jcm2000(?) with a 412). I ran the genz flat. absolutely flat, with everything at noon - both gains, eq and master volume. Wow!! It absolutley sang! I then engaged the VT bass for some heavy-ish grit and it was thunderous :) . Our first song, and I couldnt believe how much presence this little set up has. I got thumped in the chest, could hear absolutely everything I was playing crystal clear, and had to turn the volume down a little through the song as it was too loud!! Everything comes through it amazingly - all the effects I run, together, on their own, any combination. I also traverse a few bass tones through our set - I have a thick clean bassy bass tone for a bit of an 80's dance influenced thing, some ballsy grit (most used) for some pelican/cult of lunar type stuff we do, and more mid type sound for some more hardcopre sections (if you can describe them as that).

Everything cut through so well. The midget does add a bit of 'anger' to things, but in such a way that where I was cutting through the mix (easily) with the compact alone last time, the midget adds another dimension to it thats amazing.

So this is a picture of the barefaced rig - excuse the mess in the studio, we had party snacks on the go! I took it form a way back to give you an idea of how small (although I know there are lots of users out there and on this site). I think the house rig sneaks in on the left hand side:

The load home, via the pub, was drunken - as you all appear to have gathered :) - but just as easy. I think I gave the train a bit of a bump when loading and unloading, and the trolley did jump out as I was leaving, and all is unscathed and happy.

My apologies for a bit of a ramble, and I know some of these descriptions of sound are absolute pony and very subjective, but I'm absolutely in love with this rig.

However, I am curious to see more pictures of barefaced rigs - there doesnt seem to be that many pictures around unless I've missed something. Particulalry interested in the bigone, or the baby big and subs (I know theres one out there somewhere!). What do you run them with, what style of music etc etc

  14. Bugger! Missed that one!
Please, please, please copy this over to the Drunk Thread. :)
My good lady knocked up a massive dinner anyway, top work ill get some relevancy back to this thread tomorrow....hangover dependant of course! :)

  15. Ok, so ill post something more sensible tomorrow, but sh*t this ris is mazing!! First time ive managed to run it all out and wirh my shutte 9 you can really bring some thunder! Ive had a few beers mid ans post session so will poat mire coherence tomorrow, but tgis is s light, so easy to move nd so assive its obscene! Been an owner and a lover if the compct for a while but as a rig, this KILLS!

Sorry about the oaragraphs and selling, ill post a pic ans more sensibe wordsater, just so xcited nd happty! Join me!! :) :)

  16. I used an ashdown mag combo last night 410. With my peda board in front got some pretty thunderous tones out of it. Normally i receive any combination of a peavey tour head, paired with an ampeg 810 which sounds like its eaten a few too many tins of beans, or a coupe of ampeg 115s, or somertimes a trace 115 with an ampeg. A real mish mash.

I guess its part of the fun of booking at some places, guessing what room and kit youre gonna get. Theres such a difference in my tone depending on the room alone, and as a band.

On the cost side though were skinned alive compared to some of you guys. 66 quid for 4 hours including backine. Its alaska , london waterloo. Only place that works logistically.

Taking my own rig tomorrow . Snow dependant, and cant wait!

  17. Sounds like a nice plan, i think i may be interested in this as well. Its an absolute pin in the ase trying to kick that mid song! Even more so for me as i have it in the middle of pedal board! :)
