1. The sellers come back and offered it for £1800 !!!!
2. Anyone know what happened to the 62 Jazz on ebay ? It was due to expire tonight but the listing and the sellers account have been cancelled. I entered a dialogue yesterday asking for some more photo's and was offered a private sale for cash. Didn't feel quite right and the lack of blurb on the ad for a valuable bass worried me a bit.
3. Hi all I occupy the Geezer Butler position in a Sabbath tribute. I've knocked up a 69 replica sunburst P bass and picked up a nice plexi bass reissue to keep it authentic (can't afford the SVT rig sadly yet). I'm aiming to build a replica of Geezers white John Birch bass but can't find any decent photo's, other than the two readily available shots on Google images. I've scoured the Sabbath sites and Geezers own site but can't get a good shot of it nor any technical specs. I have however acquired the 'enjoy cocaine' sticker to out on it. Any help would be much appreciated. Ta
4. Dave sold me a K&K bassmax. Excellent packing and prompt postage. Good price too ! Thanks
5. Pretty sure Martin Clunes played bass during his youth.
6. I've never had fun playing in London. Played on two Thames side boats, murder getting the gear on board, took us over an hour each way, no fun when the tides out. Also played in a hotel in Marble Arch with one small goods lift. We played on the 5th floor. Nowhere to park the van either...stressssssssss
7. Hers my 1980 1k. Never really thought about strings for her though. I imagine flats might sound quite nice.

9. Thanks guys I'll go for the bass max at £60. How do you want payment Fatback ? Paypal or cheque ? Cheers Brewster
10. Hi I'm after a half tidy double bass pick up, preferably a bass max or similar. I've got a set of Ultra blacks on so magnetic pickups won't be any use. Thanks in anticipation. Brewster
11.
I've used a piezo (K&K Bass Max) pickup into my Hartke (LH500) head and I did need a preamp to bring the impedance down to sensible levels before going into the Hartke - otherwise I just got a lot of high mids and very little volume. I ended up buying the Fishman Platinum Pro. You will struggle to get both a pickup and a preamp for £150 though. £200 would do it, if you look at used gear, but they don't come up all that often. You don't necessarily need an expensive pickup (Realist, Full Circle, etc.), cheaper bridge wing piezos often do a fine job.
Thanks for all the great advice people. I've snapped up a Dave Hall pre amp for £70 and am hunting down a pickup. Can't wait to get out playing. Cheers
12.
bump
Hi Have you sold the bass max yet ? If not would you take £70 ? Cheers
13. Hi I'm new to the forum and seek advice. I've just purchased a couple of double basses, a Stentor Student II and a Thomann Rockabilly (only £285). I've purchased a set of Ultra Blacks for the Stentor and will soon snaffle up a set of silver slaps for the Thomann. My query relates to amplification. I play electric through a Hartke 3500 rig with 4x10 and 1 x 15 cabs. I've looked through a number of posts and the consensus seems to be that the head and 4 x 10 might be okay with a pre amp. Alternatively I could purchase a smaller combo but only really have about £150 left to spend. I'm perfectly happy to buy s/h but would really appreciate any comments/advice. I will hopefully progress to a reasonable standard over the next 6 months and hope to get out gigging ASAP. Would imagine mainly small gigs with no PA. I understand the strings won't be suitable for piezo pickups. James, my teacher and contributor to the forum, recommends a realist pickup, will this be transferable between the two basses and is is suitable for both jazz and rockabilly styles ? All advice would be appreciated. Cheers
14. Hi I'm in the market for a decent bass and would be interested in viewing, if you still have it when you move to Bristol. Ive been learning on a cheap entry model but really want something better. I'm on holiday now for 2 weeks from Momday and then plan to sell a couple of bass guitars on ebay to fund a new DB so will give you a shout at the end of August if ok ? Cheers
