1. Ah!! that`s perhaps my problem Burrito, I am currently playing my bass without an amp..

I seem to get a lot of buzz when freting notes on the A and E strings, and to get rid of the buzz using the bridge = higher action than I would like.

I know the neck is straight. I`ve done the 8th fret test thing with the feeler gauge.

The main problem seems to be that I can play the note cleanly, but the string rattles on the fret briefly as I release the note.

    I hope that makes sense..

  2. I have been lurking for a while and now feel it is time to introduce myself.

    (Cough)

I acquired my first bass at age 17 it was a passive Aria Pro II cat bass, I still have it, but its neck is now shaped like a dogs back leg.
I played in a few local bands before giving up in 1993 in order to go to University, I took the bass with me but it was just furniture.
The bass gathered dust, and the Laney DP100 rusted away in the garage.

    Fast Forward to 2009..

The Cat bass was dusted off and a few rudimentary tunes were attempted, despite the passage of time, all felt good.

    The Laney however, is knackered.

So I am a newbie again, with a new Mexican Fender Jazz which I bought, thanks to this site off Pegasus14 (Thanks again)

No bass amp as yet, so playing through a Peavey rage :)

I`m learning new stuff all the time on here and my finger callouses are beginning to reform.

Thus far I am enjoying it.

Thanks for making me feel welcome thus far...

  3. Underrated = http://www.stevedigiorgio.com/ Pioneered the fretless bass in a genre which until then relied on its fretted brother.

Overrated = John Entwistle Possibly.. IMO. Perhaps. Because.... Well he does nothing for me..

    Wombling free...

  4. Depends on the paint.

I think that as you would have to remove the pickguard anyway, you may as well have a bash with some fine wire wool and some turps.

The paint will either come off easily or it will be a real bugger..

Invest in a new one methinks..
