  6. Hello, For sale: Lakland Skyline 55-02, deluxe model in cherry burst with quilt maple top. Maple fingerboard, through body stringing. About a year old, mint condition except for one tiny (I mean tiny) cymbal dink on the headstock. Lakland pickups. All original. 35" scale. Selling after a year of faithful use in all kinds of gigs, only because I'm moving onto something a little more modern sounding which I think seems to suit the work I'm doing now a little better. This is a wonderful bass, has a beautiful growl, is very versatile and has been a brilliant workhorse- I'll be really sad to see it go. It has a very comfortable neck profile- not too wide, the string spacing at the nut is fairly narrow. Has amazing presence, really cuts through in a band, and has satisfyingly authentic musicman, P and J tones depending on how you set it up. I think the pictures make the colour look brighter than it really is- it's not quite as orange in the flesh. £900. Comes with a gig bag. No trades- thanks.
  7. Hello all- Johnny is a great guy to do business with (just bought a LMII from me), highly recommended ! Jo
  8. Beautiful Mike Lull jazz 5 for sale. Beautiful flame top with translucent blue finish, gorgeous looking bass. A few years old but in immaculate condition. Incredible tight, modern sound, and beautifully fast neck. 35" scale which gives it amazing tightness on the B string. Through-body stringing on the B string. The 3-band eq (bass/treble/mid cut and boost, mid pan) gives a endless tonal possibilities. This was £2600 new a few years ago. A real top-end custom bass. £1100. SOLD
  9. Complete rig for sale: two Epifani UL410's- both 8 ohms- for sale due to leaving the world of blues rock I used a LMII and these cabs for about a year and it was an amazing rig, very powerful, warm, satisfying to play through, very clear and very reliable. The LMII never had the slightest problem powering two 410's, in a pretty loud setting- never even got close to pushing it hard. Excellent cabs, very lightweight (57lb), very clear but warm sounding, great condition (see pics), excellent working order- always been well looked after. £575 each. Also Markbass Little Mark II, almost new, bought as a back-up but never used, so basically as new- boxed. £400.
  10. It does look different in different lights... but I think the one of it on the floor (bottom left pic) is probably closest. Jo
  11. All original 82 Squier precision. These JV basses are getting very collectable now... very well-made, from top-quality parts, much better build quality than a lot of seventies Fenders. This one's a very rare colour, and the condition is excellent. Sounds great, frets excellent condition, feels great to play... very punchy, growly P-bass sound. Also comes with a spare mint green scratchplate (see pics). Currently at the Gallery- let me know if you're interested. Looking for £650.
  12. Thanks for the support boys You know, I think what upsets me even more is his lousy spelling....
  13. A while ago I received this (totally unsolicited) email from a guy calling himself Fergie Fulton, which caused a certain amount of sheer disbelief and hilarity... I did wonder whether to reply but then thought life's too short- so instead I am naming and shaming him here- and wonder if anyone else has come across this be-mulleted bass sage? Oh and by the way, you really should check out his myspace page- www.myspace.com/vintageprecisionbass - this guru of all things bass related (the self-confessed "best blues bass guitarist in the world") obviously has a lot to offer all of us. Anyway, this is the email he sent me: "hi Jo caught the show last night at the high barn, great night had by one and all i saw the potential of what your trying to achieve. I don't like to criticize unless i feel it will be positive to a player so please don't take offence as it is the last thing i want to do. I believe you play upright bass, as your right hand fingering is very lazy and leads to a lack of definition in your playing. Spoons is a very powerful drummer and you need definition and power in your playing to stay with him which you lack. I feel if you address these issues you will have a better understanding of your playing in a trio, which is completely different to playing in any other formation as you will be left lacking when the guitar leaves the groove to solo. The fact you are female has nothing to do with our ability, to me you are a bass player, end of story. Please feel free to reply in case i don't have the full picture, like i said i don't want to offend, just point you in the right direction......fergie"
  14. Anyone know what this is? I found it in a shop in Switzerland. They seemed pretty happy to be getting rid of it Personally I think it looks really cool, and it definitely has a bit of a double bass sound to it. Needs a bit of looking after, and the quality is pretty bad, but it was cheap so nothing lost really! Any opinions?!
  15. I agree, I wouldn't want to take them out and play them if they were totally 100% original, I worry about them enough as it is!
  16. yeah, the 61, 64 aand 71 are all refinishes, tho the headstock of the 64 is original. J
