what sort of spark plugs should i be getting then?

The Shure 535 are amazing. I've just sold some! But I'd worry about using them in situations where they aren't your 'primary' concern (as in, your bass is). They may get dropped, snagged or sat on and they ain't that robust.

Struggling with this one... are there some subtle variations on the chords? Any help would be great.

Cheers! I do my best. We don't have a great deal coming into the house and for years I got by on part-time jobs just so I could look after Joe when my wife went back to work. Shure SH940. Big and a bit higher than your price range but secondhand poss. I just got some from US for £150. Isolation is good but nowhere near as good as good IEMs. Sound quality excellent.
