  1. As most everyone above I'd suggest you go round the shops and try everything you can get your hands on.
Draw up a shortlist of what works best for you then sit in the for sale section in here until what you are looking for comes up.

Have bought most all my gear from basschatters and have found them to be a most excellent group of people to deal with, maybe not as cheap as going through ebay et al, but in my humble opinion much less risky to deal with.

  2. Hi there... attached is a track from the demo that one of the bands I'm in is recording.

It's a cover of Tom Petty's "Good To Be King"

Would welcome any comments/criticism, particularly concerning the bassline.

    Thanks in advance,

    Frog

  3. Bought a tascam recorder from Mike...
Goods arrived early and were as advertised.
Lots of communication about when money had been received and goods were being dispatched

Another smooth trouble free transaction... this forum is spoiling me :)

  4. I'm not massively experienced so when i've done auditions (a grand total of 2 :) ) and the band pull out some originals that i've never heard then it can be kind of daunting, so first run through I just kind of listen and get a feel for the song, locking the timing with the drummer and concentrate on hitting the root notes.
Second run through i listen for where there are holes in what the guitarists are doing... spaces for a wee fill without clanking all over the other parts.
    Has worked so far...

And as the Wise Old Git says... you are auditioning them too.

So relax and enjoy it, the worst that can happen is you won't get the place... this will not prevent the sun from rising in the morning and will not cause the earth to spin off its axis.

  5. pity they aren't running one of those "if you find it cheaper we'll give you double the difference" schemes... and that i had the £10 million quid obviously... then sell it here at a healthy BC discount... say £5 million... half price for an as new bass... can't say fairer than that :)

  6. On my P I haven't broken any so haven't changed any.
They get a good wipe down after playing and that seems to do the trick.

I probably should change the bronze strings on my coostic... my fingertips go grey/black after a few hours of playing, but i kind of like the muddy tone and I'd probably be doubling the value of the bass if I restrung her :)
