  1. I really like the look of this and the reviews and comments I've read sound great.. I have an EA Wizzy 10 at the moment but its struggling to keep up with an 18 piece big band with a loud drummer even in a rehearsal situation.Just wondering what difference would I notice with the Crazy 88. I'm on DB with a Realist PUP and a TecAmp 500 via a Fishman Platinum Pre-amp. Cheers

  4. Great to hear of your good experience at Bowspeed. You should definitely try orchestral playing, I've done a couple of play days which are great fun, low pressure and great experience. There's always other players there so you can "hide" in the section 😅I'm doing one next month in Crewkerne - a movie themed day - should be a lot of fun! 5. I'd definitely buy this if I hadn't bought the lovely Bryant from @bassace six months ago!
  6. Thanks for this, that's very useful info 👍
  7. Yes that's the one. Piers and Joe who run it are great.
  8. Thanks all. I have taken some legal advice via my insurer and also been in touch with the importer/distributor who has been quite helpful. Hopefully I can get this resolved and my lovely bass fully repaired.
  9. A few months back I bought a Westbury 22mm padded case with wheels on recommendation from my teacher for my lovely Bryant bass. Gear 4 Music were doing a good price on it. Yesterday I found deep scratches and gouges on the back at the bottom behind where the wheels are - closer inspection revealed missing padding in the inside behind the wheels, which I didn't previously notice, so the rivets have cut through the thin nylon and caused the damage. This just happened a couple of days ago as I wheeled the bass a bit further than usual getting to/from a jazz workshop - most of the time I just carry it. Laurence Dixon has quoted £1600 for a full repair, so it be will an insurance job. Gear for music have so far offered a partial refund of £25 for the case - which incidentally has a 3 year warranty.... not happy.. at all ... gutted...😫
  10. Underwood pick for acoustic double bass. Good working condition. £100
  11. I went to Bowspeed with a modest budget of £300. I tried an about 20 bows from £90 up to £300 - even I could tell the differences with my very limited bow technique - I came away with the most expensive (and best) one of course!
  12. Go to Bowspeed in Bristol. Let them know when your coming and what your budget it and they'll get put a selection out for you to try. They have bows from £90 to £££££s so set your budget carefully!! I did this and even with zero bow experience I managed to get a nice bow that my teacher approves of. They will even let you take 3-4 home to try out for a few days. Good luck!
  13. Lightweight double bass bag. 12 mm padding, lots of handles so easy to hold and carry. No rips or tears, always been well looked after, all zips in good working order. Full description here: https://www.bassbags.co.uk/product/westbury-double-bass-bag-11mm-padding/
