1. So I'm studying on a BA Jazz course down in London, I play bad ass walking lines on my electric bass. At the start of the course I was under quite a bit of pressure to play the Double Bass, I tried it and found it wasn't really my thing. I mean its a beautiful instrument in its own right but not for me. I also feel like that I wanna make the electric swing and play it so good that a lot of people wanna play with me. I constantly transcribe walking lines from Double bass players such as Sam Jones, Ray Brown, Ron Carter and Paul Chambers among many others, but I wanna check out what electric bass players have done with walking bass lines. I'm a massive Jaco fan like so many of us are and I have checked out his playing with Metheny when they played some standards and he just kills man! However I wanna hear some more electric players playing through good ol' standards such as There is no greater love, A Train, All the things you are, Days of wine and roses and so on. You know what I mean, I just don't know who to listen to! Please could anyone reccomend me some cats to check out. But don't just say a load of people who own at electric eg. Stanley Clarke, Christian McBride (also these guys mostly play double when it comes to walking) I would like people to reccomend me people they have heard play standards. Cheers!

5.
Cool, a three string bass player. Well done that man.
He had a 5 string bass man.. A three string bass would be cool tho
6. Bass is still for sale, Also I'm considering trading only for an American made Jazz bass with a maple neck btw
7. BUMP, ps. Anyone going bass day tomorrow? I'm going on my own to enjoy all of the music! Can't wait to see Mr. Miller!
8. This fine instrument is still for sale, £750ono. Its now located in North London, can also arrange courier service.
9.
Would love to try this bass, I previously bought a Stu Hamm Urge II bass as I wanted 2 basses in 1, a precision and jazz but sadly it didn't sound like either, very very bright and I would say more for slapping which I do not do. How does this bass sound compared to that? is it darker at all?
It is a very versatile instrument as it has both active and passive modes and jazz and precision pick-ups, I haven't tried a Urge II bass so I can't tell you the difference there, but I did get a wide selection of sounds that were reminiscent of a vintage jazz and also with the passive mode and bridge pick-up on you can get a great fingerstyle funk sound. If your interested you could come and try it out, I doubt you will find the same model in a bass shop as I have never seen one. I'm in south Manchester at the minute if your near why not come and see if you like it?
10.
Nice bass, but I have a question regarding the Topic page. To the left of the title there is an exclamation mark( to the right of the suitcase). What does it indicate? Sometimes there is a smiley next to the title of other threads.
I think there meant to to grab peoples attention lol, I used mine so I could easily recognise my thread so I can bump it and so on.
11. Very nice basses these, best acoustic bass you'll ever play, plus it sounds beautiful when plugged in too! Have a BUMP on me friend. (I already own one of these basses I took mine all across Europe I was so happy to have it with me too!)
12.
Had I not just bought a freeness I might have had a punt at this, I love Stuart Hamm basses. I miss my Kubicki already!
Yeah Chris, I'm kinda sad to let this go but the money is need right now and I'm just not playing it so much.
13. C'mon guys this here is such a fine instrument, doesn't anyone want to give him a nice home? I'm open to offers by the way!
14. I don't know if anyone on Basschat is into drums or in this case African Djembe drums but here goes.. I'm selling my pro Africa 13" Djembe drum hand made in Mali, Africa for £100 ono. The drum itself is in mint condition having only been played a maximum of 10 times in my bedroom nowhere else. The drum comes complete with a Stag protective case, which serves the drum well and "The Djembe Guide" a book by Ianto Thornber which provides beginners which a ranch of different strokes and techniques and more advanced techniques for intermediate players. This book is worth £20, the case £15 and I will throw these in for free. There is no visible damage that I can see on the drum, a bit of a scuffling at the base of the drum and thats all. It plays really nice, I just never seem to have the time to use it so it needs a better home. Here are some pictures of it below. If anyones interested please PM me.
15. I have finally decided to sell my Fender Urge bass at last after a lot of debating with myself.. I don't want to trade as I could do with the money rather than another bass. The bass itself is in great condition with the odd little dent on it but it adds to the character of the bass if you ask me! You can see these little marks on the pictures I have enclosed. This instrument is American made, looking at the serial number I think it was made around 1992/3. So here are the specs: Alder Body, Maple Neck, 32" Medium Scale Fingerboard. Active pre-amp comprising of the following; 2 Jazz bass pick-ups in bridge and neck positions, 1 Precession bass pick-up in centre, Master Volume Jazz bass pick-up Blend on a concentric potentiometer, 3-Position Mini Pick-up Selector Switch selects either the Jazz bass Pick-ups, the Jazz bass & Precession bass pick-ups, or the Precession bass Pick-up alone. Bass cut & boost, Treble cut & boost 4-Position rotary switch selects Passive, Active Treble boost, Active bass boost and Master Off modes Black Gototh machine heads, Gold bridge with through body stringing. The bass has a electric blue finish, I haven't seen any other Urges this colour and I fitted it with a black scratch pad instead of the original white one because I think it looks a lot prettier! It also comes with an original Fender case which provides the instrument with the care and protection it deserves. There are no marks on the bass case, also I will enclose a detailed key of what the controls do and how to use them on this bass. Slapping sounds awesome on this bass and tapping sounds great too. Its a very versatile instrument which can provide the player with a variety of beautiful sounds! As the bass can either be traditional jazz/P bass passive sound or a amazingly responsive active beast these basses are becoming collectors items. I have looked at a few going on Basschat and one went for £950 I guess these basses hold there value. I'm now willing to accept £750ono for my Urge. So if your interested please PM me. Here are the pics, I also have a few more if anyone would like to see them again, PM me.
16. So I recently bought a Fender Jazz standard USA made bass and I'm very happy with it, but I just don't dig the white pickguard against the black body its just not my bag baby, I think a black one would do the trick. Check out the pictures to see what I mean. Heres what mine looks like; Pretty nice bass eh? Heres what I'm after; If anyone with a Jazz bass wants to trade there black pickguard for a white one, please don't hesitate to get in touch. Thanks - Jack
