1. Here is an odd one for you. I have one of those TV theme tune albums and 'Return of the Saint' was on it. The bass is just lovely on it and I have had no luck finding out who played on it. Anyone got any ideas?
 2.
oh just remembered some old indie stuff, anyone remember a band called Sensless things? they had some really good bass lines in there, Bassist was Morgan Nicholls.... I do. Some years ago band I was in got a few support slots with band formed by Miles Hunt, Billy Duffy & Morgan called Vent, so got to know him a bit. Amazing bass player, & a lovely, gentle bloke...used a H/H V-S Bassmachine. He's now in Damon Albarn's Gorillaz band. Jamie Hewlett loosely modeled character Murdoc Nicalls on Morgan (he was also a Senseless Things fan).
I saw Vent at Reading '95. We only went to see Billy Duffy. Someone threw a beer can at him and he just ducked and without batting an eyelid kept on playing and gave them a smile......one of my guitar heroes.

Alexisonfire - Accidents (the bass riff in the m8)
Just played NMA Vengeance on my IPOD after your post, fantastic isn't it? All the early NMA is fantastic...sadly I think the bass player (Stu Morrow?) was plastering or something I read on the net.
Just bought a HB music man...its fantastic. dont know about this exact bass but when i posted a thread about HB i got great reviews... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=508 Alex
I've got the Vintage copy of the MM and it weighs a ton...feels like a man's guitar unlike the Yamaha which is very light by comparison.
 6.
Glittering Prize - Simple Minds. Played by one of the most under rated players, Derek Forbes.
Love 'Colours Fly and Catherine Wheel' by SM and Derek Forbes.
 7. Rio - Duran Duran Ressurection Joe - The Cult (Utterly fantastic) Peaches - Stranglers New Years Day (Apparently taken from Adam Clayton's attempt at playing Fade to Grey by Visage) and an an obscure one "When The Scream Subsides" - Ultravox (Chris Cross I believe)
 8. Jack & Danny ...that's a new one on me...i'll look 'em up thanks
 9. Anyone got an opinion on this bass?
 10. Nick Beggs and Dave Allen (gang of four)
 11. Hi guys, I am planning to buy a Harley Benton HBB400FLTBK fretless bass but would like to mark out the fret markings myself. I have two questions really. I have discovered a few web sites that will work out where the fret markings should be if you tell it how long the scale length is and how many frets you want to add. Will this actually work? or would be easier to measure the markings on an existing bass I have with a similar scale length. Secondly, what would you use to mark the fret positions on the neck. I thought of very thin strips of tape but wondered if that would effect the sound? Thanks
 12.
Like the guy said, bass day.
Hmm Haywards Heath To Manchester..err no.
 13. Hi Guys Been taking lessons for about a year now (don't suck too badly now) but I'd like to go and see some pros showing off and viewing some basses...what shows are there in the uk every year? Cheers
 14.
Stuart Morrow - New Model Army Most entertaining. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkTFo-AZysQ...ted&search=
Yup another seriously good 'forgotten' bassist....add Jamie Stewart from The Cult to the list just for Ressurection Joe if nothing else.
 15.
+1 to machines advice. Though I’ve enjoyed working on my BC300, bringing it up to scratch, I appreciate that not everyone may feel comfortable doing the sort of work I’ve done on it. I’ve never played a Squier, but I’d guess this would have much better quality “out of the box” than the Stagg. I’ve got to admit, I was lured to the Stagg because I prefer the look of real wood, rather than paint or a scratchplate. It’s fortunate that having bought it on mail order for just £99 on impulse, I was able to sort out the issues it had by myself!
Luckily my bass tutor normally has basses in various states of repair at his house so I could as him nicely if he could do it
 16.
"I say this each time one of these theads comes up: Andy Rourke, of The Smiths. Fantastic player. " +1 on that , also duff mckagan, paul mccartney
Andy rourke is just superb
 17. Yeah the Squier Fretless Jazz seems to be the best budget end fretless but i can't get one under £200 and I have to try and justify it to the missues!
 18. Has anyone any opinons on this fretless bass. Normally I wouldn't touch a Stagg with a bargepole but i've heard good things about it. Anyone got one?
 19.
The Stranglers - JJ Burnel Burnel is the reason why I picked up a bass in the first place, just love that sound.
JJ just manages to make the bass look like an offensive weapon. A big influence on me too.
