1.
For the lowest latency when playing live the only system really worth considering is the Industrial Radio one.

Alternatively you could do what Tony James of Sigue Sigue Sputnik did and learnt to play just in front of the beat to compensate...
They use the same programmer that I will be buying and installing on one of my basses myself (althought they have pitch-detecting sensors in the neck which makes it better) and then I would have to buy a MIDI controller to make the connection to true MIDI (the graphtech doesnt pitch to midi in its true form, it sends "MIDI" signals to a true controller, which then sends actually MIDI signals to another source (in this case it will be my PC). I need a 13-pin MIDI controller input, with a 5-pin MIDI out.

I would love one of these basses though, they actually look really nice and the LCD screen looks cool!

2.
Graphtec hexpander? http://www.graphtech.com/products.html?SubCategoryID=15
Thats what im getting mate, and then you also need a MIDI brain.
This Hexpander setup sends the signals from the piezo pickups to a MIDI controller via a 13-pin connection, and THEN the MIDI brain/controller sends out real MIDI information via a 5-pin MIDI output.. the Hexpander doesnt send out straight MIDI information, which is a shame.

3. is the AX 50 also discontinued, though? I seen it on a few sites flagged as that.

and regarding the Sonuus equipment, its got a little latency, especially on the E string anywhere below A, which isnt useful as I will need this live with as little latency as possible.. which is gonna dent my pocket in comparison!

4. Hey guys

so im going to be buying the ghost system for one of my basses, and then i'd need a 13-pin midi controller for it..
I was thinking the Axon AX100 MKII, BUT its been discontinued for agess, and the boss VB-99 is way to expensive..

does anyone know of any others that are within the £500 and below range??

5. Okay, so im looking at this piece of music, and im unsure how this is actually played.

I did some research, and basically its the opposite to Staccato if I am correct, whereas stacatto is where the note is played for shorter than the physical note.. and vice versa with this being longer, not shorter.. now this makes so sence to me, as surely it would just be a note with an added tie note to increase the value?

the only other explanation I can think of, is that once staccato is played, this then tells you to stop playing staccato on that note from the point it is written, much like accidentals carry on for the end of the bar unless there is a natural symbol to tell you to stop the accidental values

any info on this point would be really useful for me.

6. a lot of you may remember this song, its a classic!!

well my Metalcore band did a cover of it, check it out! :)

8. My friends band has also been endorsed by these fully.

It seems like they are going around ciries endorsing loads of bands and making a sort of marker that way.. I can't comment on what they sound like, but endorsing bands to get their name out is definitely whay they are doing. Wether its for their own promo or they make money by making bands feel they are getting a good deal I have no idea.

A few other bands in my city have also been offered endorsements, but only 1 has accepted it as fae as I know so far due to nobody lnowing the brand.

9. thanks for all the replies guys :)

I just used 3 cocktail sticks soaked with wood glue and shoved it in, its now gonna leave to dry til arounf 1pm tomorrow

the glue is around 10 years odl but I hope its still effective!!!
I also am going to put my strap over the hole and THEN screw the strap buttons on.
my guitarist does this rather than use strap locks, its a much more effective method.

since straplocks like 'come out' a bit in length over the bass, it means the weight is being held away from the bass, not next to it, so its much more strong and efficient.
i'd recommend every doing it, really.

free straplocks for all!

10. Hey guys..
I use Jim Dunlop strap locks, rather than the custom buttoms, and now the screw on the bottom of the bass has lost ALL of its bite, I regret using them SO much..
it wasnt until my friend told me to put the strap under the buttons that come with the bass and then screw the buttons over the strap so its screwed on that I feel even worse.. Im gonna have to now drill a longer hole than what it is stocked for :)
very upset!!

does ANYONE know of an alternative? I really dont want to drill a longer hole in and get a longer screw, incase it again looses its bite and then im back to square one..
another reason is cause I treat this bass well and I dont really want to 'modify' it in any way.. its my first professional bass and its a rare one too so I dont wanna change its value to me!

11. Hey guys, im looking to buy a 2x15 Bass Cab..

does anyone have/know if the Markbass 152HR is any good?
my college has a Markbass Endorsement which means we get 50% off of their products, so if this is a good cab im obviously gonna look into it!!

However, I am also interested in the Mesa Powerhouse 2x15.. but it again, is a bit costly.. or also maybe a Peavey Tour 215 or a Hartke 215 for a cheap option..
also interested in an Ampeg 215 but, it seems like they are pretty hard to come by?

I would also look into getting a Marshall 7215, but they are so rare I wouldnt know where to START to look for one!

12.
I'd like a black one if still available to jazz up my MIM jazz
Hey man, I took the middle black one off of Eddy but its a wrong fit!!!
it doesnt fit my american deluxe :)

so if I cant get a replacement trade, its yours!

13. I would marry you on Basschat if I could grab that black one off of you? the remaining one?
I've been after one for a while but I've been so so so low on funds as it all goes on food + band practises n stuff so I can never save!

14. I play in a Metalcore Band (Drop C - C, G, C, F) and a Muse Tribute Band (Standard & Drop-D -mostly).. and although I have 2 basses - so it should be ideal to have one for each band, I use my Fender for both.

I tune my bass to Drop C all of the time, and then I will make correctments are tune it up to Standard for my Muse one for gigs or practises and then leave it back in Drop C. I have done this for a while and I havent really seen a difference in the neck.

I use Elites on my basses, Medium Gauge on my Yamaha and Heavy Gauge now on my Fender as my Metalcore band being in Drop C, it makes it easier to play breakdowns as the strins arent as floppy and kinda of fight-back at you.
However, the big problem is that I use a pick in my Metalcore band so its easy to play with thick strings, but having Heavy Gauge strings playing finger style for my Tribute band it a LOT harder to play songs, as it is more tension to play with so you get worn out easier - especially on songs such as Hysteria. I could play that song all day with my Medium strings but with Heavy I do feel my fingers going a bit!!

all in all, im just passing by my personal advice.

Heres a link to buy the strings, with a gauge selector on the right.

And heres a link to my band, if your interested (bass is turned down on the demo we have, as they didnt have a bass player at the time until I joined and we are still writing before doing more demos)

15. this pedal is amazing.. if you dont have a great amp it will make your amp sound much better.. I use a pretty budget amp+cab and this pe dal is my primary control point. all my settings on my pedals (3 changable channels) are all set-up for slighly different sounds, and my bass is all eq'd to centre and then the final point of my tone shaping in the e.q on the amp itself.

this pedal will make you sound so much better than anyone else without you, guaranteed.

if you want one, get this guys now while its here, it would be a shame to miss out! I think they retair for £230 off brand new last I checked so grab a good deal

16.
If you're going to be tuning up and down, would .45's not be a happy medium?
I put my 50-110's on today. it works so well for drop c tuning. the breakdowns are so much mor easier to play with tighter less flappy strings. feels like it fights back its all sorted! :)

45's would probably go down nice, though. im gonna see how i feel with these and then maybe experiment with 45's.

17. I have a 2001 fender deluxe american so im sure the nut should be pretty decent hehe

and I was using medium gauge strings for both standard tuning and my drop C tuning.. just however sometimes, it might just help to give me a tighter sound by using 50's from 40's. thats the main idea behind it. if not i'll stick to my medium gauge, as i prefer lighter strings anyhows.

18. hey there

I currently use Elites Medium Gauge strings...

however, in a new band I am in, Medium is fine, but not so great. So I have ordered a pair of Large (as the project is in Drop C).
I have a really nice bass that I am in love with, im only 19 so I dont have the money to replace it, lol.

my question is, since my neck is so used to the medium gauge, if it re-string it with the larger gauge (which is from 40 to 50) will it damage my neck due to the massive change in tension??
I would much rather get a refund with the strings if it will cause ANY damage, than take the risk.

thanks for any replies/support.

19. Then get my Muse Tribute Band a gig, with your tribute band, and we'll hook you up with a slot :)

you get free alcohol, and a 6 person guest list. the festival is located in Cosby, its called Cobsy Big Love - Music In The Meadow.
Its part of the help for heroes scheme.

Tickets are £10 for people not on the guest list.

on our behalf, though. We will want a good gig with a established tribute band.
We can talk traveling issues and payment stuff in a private message, and we also have a slot for a tribute band at a gig were doing on June 11th if anyone is interested.
