My dog really does that.
Yeah mine does too!! He'll easily spend 15 minutes looking if you keep telling him to find "it", eventually he just picks up anything & brings it back (is this cruel?). Note to self - don't leave your bass lying around when playing this game.
Ta, amusing questions have been answered and put up for all to see, non-amusing questions have been derided by me and the wife, and deleted (well, answered nicely, just not put up, need the space for the amusing ones) Can't believe you lot are actually bidding.... :)
I spat my tea out over your "dog that faithfully runs after stick" answer - which is a bit unfortunate as I'm at work at the moment, people are giving me funny looks & I've now got to clean my keyboard.

Why does no-one ever mention Mark King or Flea? :)

Another vote for Dennis Dunaway from me, plus Trevor Bolder, the Spiders from Mars bassist. I'll also add Jim Lea of Slade.

Great to see Jim Lea mentioned, he's a fantastic melodic player & my all time favourite, also good to see someone else appreciates Trevor Bolder & Mark King. Roger Glover is another great who rarely gets a mention along with Phil Lynott (who always lacked confidence in himself). Colin Greenwood of Radiohead is also very good.

Late 70s really heavy, cheapo copies iirc.

Having said that, a lot of 70s copies were better than present day copies, so might not be all that bad, might be good as a project,

They really fetching £1100 ?
No - more like £2,000 these days! Highly sought after! whoops sorry too many noughts £2 thats better.

Need some help. Got a mate who is selling one of these Westone Thunder IAs.

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4cfa48c645

Firstly, do you think the price of £150 is fair? This one is a bit of a project (needs new strings and a new input) but apart from that it's exactly the same. It actually feels like a real quality bass (I'm almost tempted myself just to have an active!). Any help on price recommendations is really appreciated you Japcrap Gods.
Westone Thunders are very good basses, I have one of the earlier 1A models with the split precision type pick up. If it is exactly the same as the one on eBay your mate has the later version 3 model with the Magnabass pick up. You can get more information on Westone basses here: http://www.westone.info/indexthunderbass.html
As for the value, they have risen in price lately. I've seen 1A's go for between £80 & £200 it really depends on the condition it's in & I've not seen as many of the later versions for sale. You also need to be sure that it is definitely the input at fault not the active electronics.
There are currently two other 1A's on eBay, both with BIN of £195.

6. That looks very like my early 90's Indian built Encore. The string tree is exactly the same, similar body shape, the control knob spacing, the naturally aged pick-up covers & the no-skunk stripe neck. Mine is one of the limited edition pearlescent white ones & has a solid ash body. Not bad basses at all & certainly much better than later Encores. If it is one of those, as long as it has no major defects it's got to be worth a punt at £65. I think there are some old Encore fans on here who would be able to confirm whether it is or not. The only thing that makes me wonder if it is an Encore is the truss rod adjustment on mine is at the headstock end of the neck & I can't tell from the pics of this one whether it's there or not.

7. Nick was kind enough to let me have an empty cab & even arranged for his wife to hand it over to the courier for me!!

Nice friendly person - You're a top man Nick - thanks very much

8. Now for sale also - looking for £180. This is a great combo with virtually no use & a fantastic array of sounds available.

This will need to be collection only though (although I would consider delivery or meet up within Northamptonshire).

As I think I'm now sorted for a speaker cab I'll also consider trades for basses.

Erm ... how does this work, then? You buy a locked guitar case and hope there's a Squier P-Bass inside when you force the lock open later?
Yes that struck me too - anyone missing one of these?

10. Not on eBay but on Pre-loved. Seems a bit too good to be true with a case as well for £110.
If I wasn't needing a lightweight cab I'd be checking this out.

11. Hi,

*** Price dropped to £160!! ****

After years of carrying heavy cabs around my back has finally cried enough so I need a smallish lightweight 300 to 500 watt speaker cab to pair with my Ampeg PF-500 (preferably 8ohm).
Money is tight at present & the only thing I have with any value is my Wharfedale Combo so I thought I'd offer it up for trade first.

I've included a link to the Wharfedale site so you can see what it's like but if there is any interest I'll happily take some pics when I next go to the rehearsal room.
Basically it is rated at 200 watts with 2 x 12AX7/ECC83 valves in the pre-amp stage & so many sound shaping options that you could probably spend a week trying different sounds out! It's fairly loud for 200 watts & I'm sure would quite easily hold it's own for small to medium sized gigs. It is built entirely in house by Wharfedale including the 2 x 10" speakers & horn.

Brief specs are below but I would download the manual for a look because there's more detail there:

200 watt hybrid amplifier 2x10" + horn Bass combo - special angled cabinet for session and club use where good directional sound is required.

Mixed technology 200 watt Bass Combo
2 x 10" Wharfedale Bass Technology speakers + Titanium Angled Compression driven Horn
Angled cabinet design for close sound projection
All tube preamp section for signal processing and Treble, Bass and preset EQ functions
High Voltage solid state Middle circuit
High Definition 200 watt/8ohm Solid state power amplifier
Thermostatically Fan Cooled with oversize heatsink for continuous heavy duty use
Input section - Jack input, -10dB pad switch, Gain Boost switch, Tuner Mute switch, Rotary Gain control
EQ section - Low Cut, Low Boost, High Boost, Mid Depth pushswitches, Bass control with 3 position Range switch, Mid control with 3 position Range switch, Treble control with 3 position Range switch
Master Output Level control
Power ON/OFF and Standby switches
Series FX loop with Bypass and Level switches
DI output with Ground Lift switch

It also has a 300hz crossover in built with a jack socket so that you can add an 8ohm cab as a passive sub woofer - I've tried this & it sounds awesome!

I bought this to use at rehearsals & smaller gigs but my main gigging rig is becoming too heavy for me to move around so unfortunately I need to sacrifice this.

It's in great condition because it's hardly ever been used, they are extremely well built & retail at £469 at Electromusic. However I have spotted that PMT have recently listed them at £249 which is less than I paid for this last year. I think one sold on here a few weeks ago for £200 & I'd value mine at that also.

Let me know what you have for trade (I may consider trading for an Epiphone EB3).

Cheers!
