Don't get me wrong, those are excellent preamps. They physically feel better quality, and the drive sounds they offer are definitely more '3D'. I just always wanted more mid control from both, and I couldn't get along with the BP's cab sim (and doesn't have an FX loop). I could have gotten around those personal dislikes by adding a couple of other pedals. The SLO with a parametric EQ would be ideal, but the Digbeth does what I need at a significantly cheaper price (for now😅).

This is a great price for an excellent preamp. After trying all sorts (SLO Olympic MKIIIs, OE bassrig BP, DXC Bass, Ampeg SGT-DI, Sansamp VT bass DI), I’ve settled on this one myself. It’s got a flexible eq, a nice ‘edge of breakup’ sound and an fx loop. I use MartinB’s little trick to simulate a 60s cab sound by turning the tilt eq towards the bass side and turning down the actual bass knob. With a touch of drive, this sounds killer! GLWTS!

Up for sale is this DSM & Humboldt Bass Master, the sequel to the Bass Station. It's got loads of features, which you can read about here: https://www.dsmhumboldt.com/bass-master-1-1. Essentially, it's an all analogue pedal with a preamp, EQ, cab sim and DI. It also has a pre- and post-effect loop, and a parallel channel to blend in your dry signal. Thanks for the feedback, all. I didn't realise the mid is cut-only. Hmmm... maybe I'll stick with the DCX. I love how it sounds with my JMJ: edge of breakup with a bass and treble bump.

Interesting. I was hoping to get similar tones (with some more mid-options) and a DI in the BP. Obviously the BP has the cab sim too. How would you describe it's sound and why do you love it?
