  1. Is 100w still classed as low ?? Here you go CTM100 ( new 2022 version )
  2. I believe the better way is to run the master volume fully cranked and use the gain for overall level It’s the reverse of solid state amps but gets the most out of the power tubes I believe
  3. Tried it at rehearsals tonight and it’s a great sounding amp that just has that lovely valve tone and feel. It was fairly cranked up but it worked just perfectly.
  4. I decided to go for it and order the CTM100 valve head Arrived safely today and WOW it’s an amazing sounding amp, I can easily say it’s the best sounding amp I’ve owned. Better than my old SVT-CL even !! You really can’t get this tone from anything that isn’t a valve amp. It feels different to play ( tube compression ) and has a huge punch to the sound. You need to work on the EQ settings but when you discover the effect they have it’s a lovely tone. Not sure yet if I should dime the master volume and use the gain control as final amp volume or a mix of both. Well done Ashdown for a great amp You may also notice this is the new look fascia with larger knobs like the CTM200
  5. Two ABM210H cabs or my SVT212AV cab
  6. Any owners of the CTM100 Ashdown head can vouch for how loud it will go using a decent 4ohm cab ? Interested if it will work in small to medium pub venues with or without PA support playing rock ?
  7. I use the Boss TU3 and it’s a great tuner for bass I too use the DC out link to power my Sansamp Bass driver pedal I’ve also got TC Polytune clip on but they struggle in a loud venue ( they seem to pickup vibrations that interfere with the bass vibrations ) Can’t go wrong with the Boss unit
  8. I’ve tried many different picks and settled on the Ultex Triangle 0.88 or 1.14mm These are great picks for the tone I was looking for. So good I choose these instead of the warmer “pillowy” tone of fingers
  9. That was my main reason for getting one just so happens I like the EQ and warm tones from it when pick playing rock etc
  10. Yes you’re right it doesn’t seem logical to use the shape ON and use the Bass Driver to put mids back in but … it does seem to work better ( as a pick player now ) than shape OFF flat and boosting bass on the Bass Driver. Valve drive on the ABM600 EVO IV is actually a decent sounding drive and better than older generations and worth using in my opinion. I have experimented with the Shape ON before and didn’t like it in a band context ( unless you made some large EQ changes in the amp ) However using it ON with changes at the Bass Driver seems to add something that benefits the tone when using a pick ( rounder fuller yet punchy tone ) Works for me but may not work for everyone I guess !
  11. I own two PBass player series both superb instruments I did upgrade the bridges on both though but that’s a simple low cost job
  12. Thank you 👍 Good to be back 😉
  13. Yep I’ve tried that but you lose the valve preamp etc. naturally the bass driver has a nice drive too. I found the better method for myself was using it in front of the amp set flat and my new discovery using the ABM shape on with the Bass driver mids boosted. For pick playing I found this added a depth and fullness that neither on their own achieved. It was a perfect rock match PBass, pick, bass driver and ABM600 The shape ON feature used on its own is a mid scoop and on its own is best avoided but used with the Bass driver v2 it’s a fantastic result for me and the band
  14. The LBT has a trick up it’s sleeve regarding the compressor ( it’s an Opto Compressor ) When you increase it the tone warms up like a tube amp and if you go past midday ( a lot of compression) it sounds gritty It’s a fine amp with one of the better EQ ranges on an Orange amp. Its very different to the Terror Bass head
  15. I don’t believe the Para Driver does 500hz mids ?
  16. I find on the V2 the Blend control is key in getting a great sound. I run mine now as the image shows
  17. Naturally you have to boost the Sansamp mids a touch and watch the amount of bass. It just added a fullness to the sound yet didn’t get buried with the band.
  18. Just added this to my bass gear and used it last night in front of my ABM600 Discovered that I could get a great pick tone with the bass driver ON and running the ABM600 flat BUT with the Shape feature ON ( mid scoop ) Amazing tone which I just couldn’t achieve on the amp EQ alone Adding in the Bass Driver drive added the grit but it had warmth and depth to the sound. I think I’ve discovered my favourite rock tone
  19. All good thank you
  20. Thank you
  21. Thank you
  22. Thank you
  23. Thank you 👍
  24. I had the Orange LBT and it’s a nice amp but I moved it on ( nothing wrong with it but fancied a change ) warm and clean sounding amp and very loud
  25. Left the site a few months ago ( don’t ask ) but I’m back and looking forward to great Basschat banter So what’s new …, I sold my GK Legacy 800 and decided to use 100% my Ashdown ABM600 In front of this I’m running the Sansamp Bass Driver v2 which warms things up nicely for pick playing. Nearly tempted to buy a CTM100 but was concerned with lack of power, nearly tempted to buy the ABM750 ! Thank you to Ashdown for their help and offers About to add a Nano big muff pedal and that’s me up to date !!
