  1. I have to agree that there are a lot of bands that play over loudly but round my way there are a couple of hotels that have sold part of their land. The developers come in, houses are built and then the hotel gets complaints from the neighbours for loud noise.

There are 2 pubs in my area where we were the last band to play the venues. The first was the first time they'd had a band- - Vocal PA, I think at the time I had my Trace V-type combo so 150w at my disposal if I needed it and a guitarist without an ego which is a nice change.

We were very quiet compared to bands in other venues in town but the pub still got complaints from the old dear upstairs.

The second was quite a big pub so I had the same combo and a Trace 2x10". By the second song we were being asked to turn down so i disconnected the extension cab, we played quieter, the drummer played with brushes but it still wasn't quiet enough.

The smoking ban has been great as far as I am concerned but it has increased volume levels outside late at night by a hell of a lot. Especially pubs in residential areas and that has been a factor in incresed complaints to pubs as well.

I do have experience of overkill as well though: boxing day last year I depped for a rock band. The pub was so small that we took up about a quarter of it between 2 guitars, drums and keyboards and a 3k rig! Absolutely no need for anything like that. I struggled to hear my monitor which was right next to me pointing right up at me for the sheer volume coming from the PA

  2. If you know that the dep is good then I'd keep it going.

A good dep and indeed a good musician will keep their ears open and maintain eye contact at crucial parts of songs for an indication of what's happening

In previous cases where we've had a dep drummer at short notice that might not know certain parts of the song, I would modify what i was playing so that the song still sounded right whereas if I hadn't then it would've sounded completely wrong

  3. There's an option in the advanced settings under the general tab for Firefox to warn you when you are about to be redirected to another page. I've just unchecked it and the message has gone.

Solved it for this but what if I visit what appears to be a legitimate site and it turns out that it redirects me to something dodgy? I'm using comodo and use hijackthis from time to time so I should be alright but there's something different about this version of the site than the old one

  4. No expert but I'd check the tube first but since its under warranty I'd get it back to them. The only problem with getting something else is that you say you like the sound you were getting from it so if you do decide to change and don;t like the streamliner then they probably wouldn't let you change back.

Plus if it is just the tube then they are more likely to change it over and then send it back out to you but may let you swap for a bit of goodwill

  5. It'll be a 15" speaker in there and I think there's another one for sale on the forum for £150.

Unfortunately they don;t go for a great deal of money as a lot of people are going for more lightweight stuff these days. its not what its worth but around what you'll get for it

  6. sometimes if I add a comment to a thread, post it, then click the Basschat Logo at the top to take me back out then go into the thread again, my response isn't there but if I F5 it it appears.

I'm not selecting new content or anything either. Its something I've never used

  7. The specialists are lining up to diagnose what must be the first recorded case of Tourettes Slapping?

    A A A GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG F F F C AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Thanks, that's totally brightened my day. I'm just glad I saw this tonight cos if I'd logged on in the morning to see this I would have been wiping Weetabix off the screen

  8. I no longer have it but I am going to have a rake to see if I can remember who I bought it from. They would know where they got it from

Edit: I didn;t buy it directly from him but Cygnus X-1 owned this so it must've been the person that had it before him who installed it.

Personally I don't think its going to be a major issue. The main problem with getting a scratchplate is that the holes rarely line up if you get the wrong one but there aren't any holes to begin with and it would be dead easy to shave a wee bit off to fit if need be with a craft knife.
