1. Ashdown Five Fifteen Mini rig, Limited Edition, 100 Watt head & compact 2x10 100 Watt cab.
Superb home/practice setup, with the functions, CD/Line in + Headphones & looks great.

As new, not a mark or scratch, in original boxes with paperwork. I have fitted rubber feet to the left side of the cab, so it can also be used 'landscape'.

Hoping to get a decent price back for it - REDUCED to £160 or make me an offer

Try & buy with a cuppa welcome, or I could deliver (not too far) for petrol cost.

Yes IMO it's fugly & why put a Jazz neck on it? I think the Fender version is a serious tool, the Squire? Frank(ly) not! :)

  4.
Ok so here is what I've heard about the LB30 head.

They are making a 100 hand built in the UK ones which will retail at £579
The production ones will be made in China and will retail at £399

Although there are 100 being built in the UK, only 25 will be available for the UK to buy, the rest go out to Ashdown fans across the world.
Each hand built amp will come with a certificate stating that it was hand built !

The amp will run at 30watts @ 4 ohms, and around 20 watts @ 8 ohms

I have also heard that some are already built and ready, but they are waiting for them all to be done before they start distribution.

Finally, Distribution will start from April for the hand build and May for the factory build.

This is all I know, Hope it helps

    Mike

You almost had me believing all that - then I saw Bonners! :)

  5.
Very tasty, KiOgon! :)
Cheers m'dear - still 'pimpin & plinkin' only just got it!

I tried an Aerodyne at GAK a month or 3 back, but the Bello is just so much sweeter  The P pup is terrific - the samarium(?) Jazz pup is a bit low on snarl factor, still tinkering

  6. I love my Frank Bello :) Quarter Pound P pup & P neck too! Suits me sir.

Edit: Better picture & Fender spiel added.
"Now you can “bring the noise” with Fender’s new Frank Bello Bass guitar, a sleek, all-black tone monster that'll easily take whatever you dish out and then laugh about it. A true hybrid, it has a slab-cut alder Jazz Bass body and a modern C-shaped maple Precision Bass neck with matching black headstock. The thunder comes from a Seymour Duncan® Basslines SPB-3 Quarter Pound split-coil Precision Bass pickup and a Samarium Cobalt Noiseless™ Jazz Bass pickup; the only onboard control is for volume!
Other features include Fender/Schaller® Deluxe Lite-Bass straight-shaft tuning machines, a Badass® III bridge, “Fender Bass” headstock decal, Bello caricature on the back of the headstock and his signature on the neck plate."

  7.
Does it work on hands that have completely dried out and started to split open?

I work outside and the current weather plays absolute havoc with my hands. I moisturise, but to little effect. Currently the tips of my index and big fingers on both hands have split open and so to has my left thumb.

I was just about to put in some serious practice this week and start a proper practice regime sort of thing, that's all up the spout now. I'll have to wait for my hands to heal again.
I'd bet it will help a lot more than any commercial moisturizer & it's 100% natural. Have you got a plant?
A mate years ago working as a scaffolder used to always piss on his hands & rub it in, he said it was the only thing to stop your hands cracking, working outdoors all weather. Worth a try - wash your hands before playing though :)

  8. The first time I've had to 'cook' my own lunch for 2 years & what happens? Took the grill stand thing out of the millennium weasel with a towel, ('cos I knew it was hot like!) put it down on the worktop, then picked it up with my left hand 2 fingers & thumb. Did I swear? Just a bit, straight under the cold tap for a few minutes. Then I remembered the monster Aloe Vera plant we've got. Cut a leaf & rubbed it on the finger tips - HEAVEN!

Just wondered if everyone knows about Aloe Vera's soothing & healing juices? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aloe_vera

    Cheers,
    John

  9.
I'm putting out a feeler for trades for my rig.

Its a 1x15 Genz Benz Live cab - a brilliant cab, awesome sound and not too heavy. And an Ashdown ABM 300 Evo II head. A great combination together, you get that warm, retro Ashdowny sound, and when combined with a modern sounding cab, you get a great range of sounds making a truly versatile rig. Add to that the option to expand, a movable rig, and something that has been powerful enough for anything I've ever needed and its a winning unit.

Condition wise, the cab is immaculate - has been used, but always moved in its box so no scuffs at all. The head is mint save for some scuffing to the tolex. Neither have been pushed (never gone above 3/4 on the volume) and there are no nasty farts etc.

Trade wise, I'd like a giggable combo and some cash my way. Wanting at least £100 cash, and was thinking along the lines of an Ashdown ABM 2x10 combo? Something like that, but what have you got really.

Trades only (unless we could work out a 3 way trade) and due to size and weight, would need to meet up... I live in Devon, but could travel a bit to make a swap.

Would you fancy a Ashdown Five Fifteen Mini rig? 100W head with 210 cab, less than a month old, home use only, as new, boxes etc.
EDIT: Now I see the ABM you talkin bout is lots of watts! Doh! Never mind

  10.
FOR SALE peavey max126 bass amp. 26watts. Gives great sound and is small but powerfull.

Just Google 'Peavey Max 126' & you'll see the spec for these on many sites. It's 10 Watt output.

  11.
...me.

This is brand new, dink free etc and is a gr8 gr8 guitar for its price range - fab action, fingerboard, punchy and also deep pups - all round a good egg but I can't get on with the body shape. Bougt it last week from RichTone in Sheffield - it's a damn nice guitar and I thought I'd try it out.

Yes, it does have the famed neck dive and I haven't done anything with the strap button to counteract that cos I know I need to move it on. BUT, apparently a simple re-siting of the strap button behind the neck does the trick.

Alder body, rosewood board, thru neck, great sustain.

So..would be up for trades at the mo - it cost £279 new, so stuff in that region? P's or P derivatives preferred. Or I might be tempted to add cash my side for something a little more pricey :)

Trade for a Traben Neo Ltd Spalt Burst - as new?

  12. My '51 P ri MIJ is one piece maple neck & it's very smooth to play & the shiny finish is great, very different to the graininess of rosewood.
I'd say maple is generally speaking nicer than rosewood at the lower end of the market, there's some rough old dried out bits of rose about. Up market - birds eye maple can be - to die for!

Have a good look at what you want to buy, check it against a few if you can & pick one you like, you'll be happy  :)

  13.
Just bought this Fender Jazz 75 Reissue MIJ off www.fareastguitars.co.uk for £695

It is probably the best bass i have played, and i even prefer it to a Ray. I would recommend this website to anyone looking to buy a used Fender made in japan. John Blackman is a great guy to deal with and he makes the process so simple! I don't understand how an american version of this is £1500 and i got this for less than £700! AND the condition is perfect across the whole guitar. Except for the smallest of scratches on the horn shown in the picture.

Incredible. is all i have to say
Yep - that's kwite luverly! :)

  14.
A CIJ 51 Re-issue Precision Bass, and I can't tell you how happy I am with this bass!!

The finish, fit and hardware are awesome. Obviosuly the bridge and pickup are basic but they are supposed to be (altho I will be chanign the bridge to get better intonation) ! Frets are finished perfectly, and the neck feels really comfortable in my hands. The body is one piece ash finished in sunburst and the neck is one piece maple with a tint to it.

The tone and sustain of this thing is amazing, for such a basic in design instrument the strings ring and sustain with that 'piano string' tone. Through my Orange bass rig the tone is wide open with a lot of depth and very grindy, perfect for rock (think entwistle), if you turn the tone down you get that old skool motown vibe from it. The bass is currently strung with nickel roundwounds so hopefully when i get my ernie ball steels on they'll up the sharpness of the tone again!

I don't find the lack of contours on the body uncomfortable at all, infact I quite like the change and makes it look quite chunky in a cool way! I think the pickup is pretty good really, quite full sounding, the hum is a bit annoying tho so may look into shielding of the bass and if that fails maybe get a split coil pickup. One thing that bothers me, not much but the E string doesn't ring out as well as the other, but I think this me be down to the string guage being a step down to what i'm used to and so i'm playing it too hard!

Over all i'm really happy with this bass!
I'm 100% with you on that :) The bridge has to go - a Hipshot makes it so much better & I'm loving the tones with black flats + the bass lines upgrade + no hum here, is your cavity lined with copper foil? Have you tried adjusting the pup height up under the E to improve the string output balance?

  15.
LB cab , pic sent to me from ashdown
Well done that man!

Now - the cab :) is that a vertical 'port' all the way up the R/H side? Or did someone make the front too small? Or is it just me?

  16. Ashdown are talking about doing a limited run of 100 Little Bastards, hand built in the UK by Dave Green.

With a £100 premium for a hand built amp, they will be first come first served, delivery in early March instead of waiting for the China made amps. expected in April.

    Anyone?

  17.
can any one tell me how to put a pic on here
im an idiot when it comes to computers so be kind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Howdo,
Underneath the text box (where you write a post) you'll see " Select a file" & a Browse button. Click on Browse & go to where in your folders the photo is, find it & click on, then back on here, click on UPLOAD next to Browse. Then click 'Add reply'.

    That should do it!

  18. I've only been to the shop once - which was disappointing & first impressions count!
I 'phoned in advance to make sure a particular bass was in stock, so next day off I went. The bass was on display, to sum it up as "covered in crap" wouldn't be far from the truth. The usual snot & grot + more than a few marks - very off-putting when you're faced by a £899 price ticket! The only one of that model in the shop of course.
To be fair, the discounted price matched the online price, but it looked so second hand I weren't interested in them 'giving it a wipe over' - they could have done that before I got there if they cared about a sale.

It's one of the closest shops to me, about 30 miles away but I won't bother next time. The pros & cons of online/mail order - you can't see/touch what you're getting but you can be fairly sure it will be brand new & factory fresh, (if you're lucky).

  19.
The one made from plastic pipe, was something I have been looking at for myself.

The "nursery" is quite small and at the moment I have 5 basses/guitars with another one due in this week, and with them all on seperate stands I am going to run out of room quite quickly.

The pipe would mean that it is simple to build and light-weight.......just have to make sure that the wall of the pipe is sufficiently thick to avoid too much flexing/bending under load.

It would also be the easiest to bulid - a saw and some pipe cement, and a pair of hands to push it together.
My original thought was to make out of wood (being a carpenter's son) but the plastic tube is something I've used a lot of before, plumbing for koi ponds etc. Now I'm thinking - I've got a stash of 20 or 22mm copper pipe in the loft! Some solder joints & a blowtorch

EDIT: I've just seen the prices of solder ring tees & elbows, no chance! Rather get some nice wood :)
