1. Flatlands are plying their post-rocky/doomy wares in Scotland on the following dates:-

Friday September 10th - Dundee Club Kage
Flatlands + Kaddish + Sunset Squad + Dross

Not heard the last 2 bands but Kaddish are incredible, proper screamo without the haircuts and bad attitudes.

We're also playing someone's house in Glasgow on the Saturday, not sure of the details or if I'm technically allowed to invite internet people along. More details to follow. Maybe.

Oh, I may be playing g****r instead of bass.....

    Sorry, couldn't help myself :)

Damn useful piece of kit, though, a sansamp. Just wish my VT Bass pedal had the new XLR out ...
Presumably it outputs the same level as amp inputs, could you not stick a simple DI box in front of it? Another box to carry around but most small venues have them for bass anyway.

  3.
I had an ASAT in the early 90's,damn thing nearly gave me a hernia,,,heavy as a really heavy thing, sure it was made of concrete, very powerful pick ups and a pretty fast neck, but did I mention it was heavy? :)
I went to the Matamp factory last year and there was a guitar body on one of the benches. I picked it up and nearly put my back out, turns out it was made of solid granite! A guitarist who makes kitchen worktops thought it would be a good idea as it resonates similarly to aluminium but playing it would make you about 3" shorter after every gig. Don't know it he ever finished it or not.

  4.
I hear that the Vt bass is a lot better and less scooped sounding than the bass driver, but it doesn't have an xlr out so it isn't a DI box. I've not tried it yet so can't comment, but from what I've heard it is better than the bass driver at nailing the classic Ampeg grit.
There appears to be a new VT out, the VT Bass Deluxe in the same enclosure and with the features of the BDDI Deluxe including an XLR out. Looks pretty sweet!

  5.
Just one question, do i need to splash out on the four switch deluxe driver or can i save some cash getting another model and not wasting my money on something which has a bunch of stuff i wouldnt use?
Depends what you want really! The deluxe has an extra 3 presets available, a swtchable FX loop, 2 inputs and a parallell out. If you reckon you'll use them then go for it, if not then don't. I don't need any of the extra stuff personally but I saw the unit for £120 so I bought it. I've not had chance to road test it but it will be nice to gig it and know the kind of sound it'll be putting out front of house and that it's going through some decent kit.

  6.
This isn't a 'Have you got either of these to sell me?' thread, but rather a 'HELLPPPP' thread.
But I do have one to sell!

If you're based in/near Sheffield you're more than welcome to try my Rockbass Corvette (active) out if it helps. I don't slap so I can't be much assistance.

  7. Billy Gould, straight from Wiki:-

"For most of Faith No More's career, he used a Zon bass, but started with an Aria in Faith No More's early days. In the music video for Evidence[2], he can be seen with a Fender Jazz. He began with Peavey amplifiers, then moved to Ampeg amplifiers. He is known for employing a wide variety of playing styles."

+1 for big fat strings, high output pickups and a dist. pedal or something to give you a bit of extra growl.

  8.
Trying not be sarcastic here - but seriously - would anyone pick Gareth Hughes as a username??!?!?!??!!?!
I would but you beat me to it, it's my proper name too! There seems to be a few Gareths on here, must be a bass player thing.

I've decided to use my spare cash for some decent cables and a mic but good luck with the sale.

  9. I didn't even need to use the EQ on mine, the tone shaping controls were enough to make my Rock Bass sound great. The footswitchable EQ is a bonus if you want something extra during a song. Some people complain they're a little sterile but I just found it nice and hi-fi sounding, lots of clarity and punch. Good luck with the sale.

  10.
Bloody livingston, it's getting everywhere!
We stayed there on our last trip to Scotland. Terrifying place at night. A few people went to Club Earth then got back hammered and made everyone else watch G3 until 6am.
