I'm going to leave the 1x10 in there. The difference in weight will be minimal, as Stevie pointed out.
I quite like the 1x15 as an extention cab, but more for it's size and weight, as the sound nuances spoken of above are lost on an insensitive brute like me.

Having said that, I can see me selling the combo and cab soon anyway. I've fallen for Phil Jones amps, having had a Briefcase, I now want a Suitcase.
I only gig double bass these days and record electric bass, so don't need anything loud.

Hi Laurence.
I'm probably being a blouse about the weight, but the combo is a UK made ABM EVO 300 with a 1x10 driver. It's basically the same size as the "mini" cab range and I use it with a mini 1x15 to get the full 325 watt at 4ohm.
As I said, a 1x10 blue swap for a neo may not make a lot of difference to the weight, but may affect the sound adversely? I don't know, but thought I'd ask for some opinions.

Please excuse my general ignorance on these matters, but I was thinking about changing the blue driver in my ashdown combo for a celestion neo, to lessen the weight.
However, I have a feeling that it's not as simple as taking out the old one and putting a new one in?? I looked on the wiki pages but couldn't locate the appropriate threads.
My own, rather agricultural approach would be to swap and see what it sounds like, but...........I have a feeling that the cabs are "tuned" (whatever that means) to suit the driver.... so I'd need to read up on some technical stuff that will make me lose the will to live....., or take up the drums...

Quite quickly I ended up not listening to VW & MM. But I could have listened to SC, the drummer and the keys all day long with that nice understated, but fat, groove.

Sir silddx did the strings come straight to you, or did you have to pick them up and pay duties, etc?
I'm after some more fatbeams from the states, but concerned that it won't work out any cheaper in the end??

Bubinga, I'm not sure if this is always a good reason to get into a credit agreement sir.
This is undoubtedly a great guitar, but it's not the only great guitar on the planet, and there will be other great guitars in a years time, or however long it may take you to save up £800 or so.
Who knows, if you did get this on credit, whether you will still have it in a years time, if you're anything like me .
I think there's some legal stuff about selling things that are still on HP....someone will know here.

All I'm saying is the eye can want for pretty things and can get us into all sorts of trouble. Perhaps patience is best??

As an aside, the guitar I've had for the longest is the first one I ever saved up for and bought outright.....

Mike bought an Aria fretless from me.

Indeed it was. Great fella to deal with.

I used to look at these when I was in my late teens, but couldn't afford them, then they changed design and I went off Ibanez basses, but liked their guitars.

I'm afraid I've never been an Ibby fan.......until now, when I took delivery (today) of a 30 year old Roadster.

Admittedly it has an Alembic preamp in it, but the build quality is astounding.
In 35 years of gigging, this is the most rock solid, comfortable, playable bass I've owned.
I've gone through Status, G&L, Fender, Warwicks mostly.....no boutique's, but UK, USA and German made basses, but this made me smile from the moment I played it without even plugging it in.

Huge bridge, brass nut, solid tuners, a great neck.

Are the modern ones as well made as the old Jap ones?

Bought an Ibby Roadster from Stuart.

Great comms throughout, bass arrived in tiptop shape as described, very well wrapped (I think Stuart has shares in Gaffa tape ).

In very good condition, just doesn't get played. Is as light as anything but has a surprisingly loud deep tone. You can dial in quite a respectable upright sound too.
