1. at 16 i was unsure of the direction i wanted to take in life so i had fun for the summer and got a job after, with the job i bought some gear that helped me through the years till i got the gear i wanted. I've still got a wish list of stuff i want. i'd say go out and have fun. you've got better gear than when i was younger. besides having a load of top end gear doesn't mean your a good bass player. Go out and have fun with your mates. 2. hello joe. My P bass has never let me down or broke a string. the Black vinyls give it a really deep sound, the top ends got a bit honky but then the strings might need changing. usually have the tone at about half. necks wider than what i was use to but i've grown to like it. ta.
3.
I have fiddled about with the switches but to be honest, I mostly leave them in the center position all the time. I find they can make the pickups a bit too hot for my liking. I will have another play with them when I re-string it with Flats, I might find a better sound. I think it sounds wicked as it is though! Do you have one?
yes i'm the proud owner of a blond one. the switches do cause loads of different sounds. use the top switch flicked forward but flick it back if i need it to sustain for ever. Mostly just use the RD for a really loud and deep type of sound. weighs a ton but i like it.
4. many points have been raised in this post, but have people considered the health risks of being in bands and playing live music? How many of you have got tinitus? bad backs? i've noticed the difference in smells in pubs with the ban. i'm a smoker.
5. my amp sounded miles better when i put little skull an crossbone stickers on the control knobs.
6. hello to everyone. this is my first forum so be gentle. my current rig is a Mesa/boogie D180 with a home made 2x15 (have got a boogie 2x10 but it rarely goes anywhere cos its heavier than the 2x15) my basses are Gibson RD artist. Fender P (black vinyl strings) Aria laser electric Aria Pro2 (one humbucker thru neck) Peavy T40. thank you.
7. i should of bought one when i had the chance. kicking myself now. got a boogie D180. that gets hot but thats what valves do.
8. hi there, do you use all the switches on the RD?
